Stanley Cup Final 2016: Penguins vs. Sharks TV Schedule, Odds, Game 3 Prediction

Justin NeumanJun 2, 2016

Don't look now, but the Pittsburgh Penguins are halfway to ending the 2016 Stanley Cup Final. After holding on for a 3-2 victory in Game 1, the Penguins needed overtime to beat the San Jose Sharks 2-1 in Game 2 on Wednesday.

Conor Sheary netted the game-winner for the Penguins, putting a wrist shot over the glove of Martin Jones, as you can see below courtesy of NHL on NBC:

Matt Murray played another brilliant game for the Penguins between the pipes. Murray, who is just 22 years old, stopped 21 of 22 shots. The only goal he surrendered was on a shot by Justin Braun late in the third period. Braun found the back of the net through a sea of bodies and rifled it past Murray on the near side.

The Penguins' HBK line of Carl Hagelin, Nick Bonino and Phil Kessel continued to be the heartbreak kids for the Penguins. Kessel buried the team's first goal. Hagelin and Bonino each had an assist, and Bonino also blocked four shots. In addition, he had the go-ahead goal in Game 1.

Now the series shifts to San Jose, where the Sharks will have to scramble to get back into the series. The puck drops in Game 3 at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday. You can catch the game on NBC Sports Network.

Heading into the series, Odds Shark had Pittsburgh as a minus-120 favorite in the series. With a 2-0 series lead, those odds are looking good. As the home team in Game 3, however, San Jose is the favorite at -140, per Odds Shark. If you think Pittsburgh can take a stranglehold on the series, you can get them at +127.

With the particulars out of the way, let's make a few predictions for Game 3, shall we?

HBK Brings More Sweet Chin Music

Much like Shawn Michaels, the former WWE Superstar who is the line's namesake, the HBK line has been roughing up the opposition this postseason. NHL Public Relations has more on the dominance of this line in the playoffs:

Look for that to continue in Game 3, as the relentlessness of Hagelin, Bonino and Kessel will lead to another goal in the back of the net.

Sharks Get on the Board

Despite the Penguins continuing to come in waves, the Sharks will get back on track in Game 3. The Sharks looked like a different team in the third period of Game 2, putting pressure on the Penguins and keeping pucks in the offensive zone.

With the Shark Tank crowd behind them, the Sharks will hold serve at SAP Center and pull within one game in the series.

Prediction: Sharks win 3-2.
