After the match, The Usos had to be helped off by the medical team, which put in doubt their status to help Roman Reigns against AJ Styles later Sunday night, via WWE:
After a successful run in New Japan Pro Wrestling, Gallows and Anderson made their WWE debut as a team in the weeks leading up to WWE Payback on May 1 by attacking The Usos following a bout in the tournament to determine new No. 1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships.
Gallows and Anderson quickly aligned themselves with WWE World Heavyweight Championship challenger Styles, who was previously part of the Bullet Club stable with the team in NJPW.
That prompted The Usos to back up their cousin and world champion Roman Reigns. The groups then proceeded to feud with each other for several weeks during the buildup to Extreme Rules.
Gallows, Anderson and The Usos all got involved in the world title match between Reigns and Styles at Payback, and they remained a huge part of the angle thereafter.
While the teams had no shortage of battles in the ring, there was also a war of words on social media as they traded barbs, such as this one from Gallows:
The Usos also got in on the act and questioned how deeply The Club's bond runs in comparison to The Bloodline:
The Club and The Bloodline traded victories prior to Extreme Rules until The Usos cleanly defeated Gallows and Anderson in a tag team match on the go-home episode of Raw.
It initially seemed as though The Usos, Gallows and Anderson would only be involved in the world title main event between Reigns and Styles, but it was announced on SmackDown that they would be part of the card.
There has been plenty of chaos in the rivalry between The Club and The Bloodline, so it was fitting that the match had a disorderly stipulation that allowed all four Superstars to be legal and in the ring at once.
WWE ran the risk of making the feud cumbersome to fans since the duos faced each other so many times prior to Extreme Rules, but they put on a strong performance Sunday due in large part to the anarchy of the match.
The main focus of the storyline is still on Reigns and Styles, but the creative team's decision to put The Club over made sense because Gallows and Anderson needed a big victory in order to bolster their credibility.
It can be argued that Gallows and Anderson largely haven't been presented as a big deal since joining WWE, but after winning their first pay-per-view match as a team, that may be changing.
