Wednesday, May 11
Chargers general manager Tom Telesco told ESPN that while every knee injury is unique, the issues with Gordon's were favorable, per Ricky Henne of Chargers.com, adding: "Everything is on track."
Gordon Vows to Be Ready for Training Camp
Monday, May 9
The Chargers' first-round pick from last year took part in on-field drills Monday but said he's not at 100 percent after undergoing microfracture knee surgery in January, according to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune:
"I'm getting better. I'm getting better. I'm not where I want to be, but I think I'm ahead of schedule. I'm sprinting pretty well. I'm cutting.
"
Gordon also said there's "no question" that he'll be ready when the Chargers report to training camp in July.
"I'm not even worried about that," he said, per Gehlken.
Gordon Looking for Improved 2nd Season
After the Chargers drafted him with the 15th overall pick, the former Wisconsin Badgers star's first year in the NFL did not go like he hoped. After rushing for 2,589 yards as a junior in 2014, Gordon ran for only 641 yards in 13 starts for the Chargers, averaging 3.5 yards per carry.
Between his rough rookie campaign and the Chargers going 4-12 last year, Gordon's main focus is trying to put 2015 behind him.
"There's nothing to remember about that. We had a bad season as a team," he said, per Gehlken. "There's just nothing to remember, really. We don't want to go through that again."
San Diego can get back to playoff status if Gordon has a bounce-back season. If he can get back to the field for full-contact drills at training camp, he'll be right on track.
