Canyon Barry, Son of Hall of Famer Rick, Transfers to Florida
One of college basketball's top graduate transfers is off the market, as Florida landed guard Canyon Barry on Monday. The rising senior announced the news on Twitter:
Barry, who spent the last three seasons playing at the College of Charleston, picked the Gators over Miami (Florida) and Northwestern and is eligible to play immediately, per Matt Norlander of CBS Sports. He is the son of NBA Hall of Famer Rick Barry, who averaged over 23 points per game during 10 seasons in the league, according to Basketball-Reference.com. Canyon's brothers Brent, Drew and Jon also spent time in the NBA.

It seems Rick passed the scoring gene on to Canyon, who averaged 19.7 points last season with the Cougars. In addition to having a knack for putting the ball in the hoop, Barry also shoots free throws underhanded like his father, via the Post and Courier:
Florida returns a bevy of talent, including guards Kasey Hill and KeVaughn Allen. With Barry now in the fold, CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein expects the Gators to be among the SEC's best this upcoming season:
Florida missed the NCAA tournament for the second straight season, which is rare for such an accomplished program. With another top team like Vanderbilt starting with a new head coach in Bryce Drew after the departure of Kevin Stallings to Pittsburgh, the Gators look to be a solid bet to compete for a SEC title and return to the Big Dance in 2017.
