The longtime Blue Devils leader guided Duke to the Sweet 16 this past season.
The Durham Herald-Sun's Stephen Wiseman reported Monday that Duke Athletic Director Kevin White projected Krzyzewski to coach at least five more years, which would be through the end of his current contract.
It appears the 69-year-old's medical issue won't prevent him from his offseason commitment to coach Team USA in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Krzyzewski has constructed a heralded program for the Blue Devils and won a national championship as recently as 2014-15. His unique leadership and pure understanding of the game continue to serve him well amid a tenure that began in 1980.
Star guard Grayson Allen is returning for the Blue Devils this coming season after averaging 21.6 points in 2015-16. Krzyzewski has also assembled an epic 2016 recruiting class, featuring 5-star point guard Frank Jackson and 247Sports' Nos. 2 and 3 overall prospects, Harry Giles and Jayson Tatum.
Between Allen and a trio of phenomenal freshman, Duke ought to have the pieces in place for another strong season.
