Sam Bradford Reportedly Won't Demand Trade from Eagles

Mike NorrisApr 24, 2016

The Philadelphia Eagles worked a trade earlier in April to acquire the No. 2 overall selection in the 2016 NFL draft and are likely to choose a quarterback with the pick.

However, while it could make sense for Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford to ask for a trade, that won't be the case, according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports:

"

While Philadelphia could still deal Bradford during the draft or ensuing offseason, the sources said Bradford is prepared to prove to the Eagles that he's a franchise quarterback. He'll embrace the challenge if he remains in Philadelphia, sources said, despite being upset that the team surrendered draft assets that could have helped him.

Robinson noted the Eagles could still make a trade, but Bradford is guaranteed $22 million next season, per Spotrac, and is in a good situation. He'll get paid regardless, and as Robinson reported, the team plans on letting him start next year while a rookie signal-caller learns the offenseand a strong 2016 season could make Bradford an attractive option for another team in 2017.

ESPN Radio's Mike & Mike pointed out that Bradford's contract is disproportionate compared to his win-loss record as a starter:

However, the fact that Bradford is being a team player could benefit the Eagles in a lot of ways. Instead of sitting out until he is traded and taking up space on the roster, he's doing what he can to get better. That, in turn, should help whichever rookie quarterback the Eagles potentially choose in the long run, as he will have a chance to learn from the sidelines.

It's not an ideal situation for Bradford, but he seems to be making the most of it.
