Barcelona Transfer News: Latest Kasper Schmeichel, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen Rumours
Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel could reportedly trade the Premier League's summit for La Liga's perch this summer following reports he's being eyed by Barcelona as a replacement for Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
According to the Sunday People's Steve Bates (h/t Mirror's Tom Hopkinson), Barca are considering a move for Schmeichel, 29, if Ter Stegen ends up leaving the Camp Nou at the end of this season.

The report also mentioned the Blaugrana will be expected to spend more than usual should they fail to win La Liga this season, having recently seen their lead reduced at the table's summit.
Schmeichel's form between the posts has helped Leicester greatly in their Premier League title challenge, and the 'keeper was quoted by Hopkinson tipping his versatility as one of his greatest assets after loan spells away from the club:
"I have played at every level apart from League One. I have played in Scotland, played in Wales and that has given me a great football education, a way of adapting to whatever team I am playing in.
I have played internationally where we play a completely different type of game, and that has given me a versatility that can adapt to whatever team I am playing in and whatever style we want to play.
"
A move to the Camp Nou would represent a dramatic step up in quality, however, and Ter Stegen's uncertain future in Catalonia means the possibility of a switch can't be ruled out.
Lluis Miguelsanz of Spanish newspaper Sport recently wrote the "danger of Ter Stegen leaving Barca is real," meaning this summer could see the Spanish giants relinquish one of the best goalkeeping prospects in Europe.
However, Schmeichel, son of former Manchester United and Manchester City stopper Peter, could be tempted at his chance at the big time after completing this season's journey at the King Power Stadium.
BBC Leicester Sport recently showed Schmeichel sitting among the Premier League's finest this season in terms of clean sheets recorded:
According to the Sun's Mike McGrath, Barca are hopeful a fee of £15 million will be enough to secure Schmeichel's services, with Southampton's Fraser Forster also a reported target for the Spaniards.
Schmeichel's performances are even more impressive when one considers Wes Morgan and Robert Huth—hardly the fastest centre-back pairing—have guarded him for the majority of this season. The Guardian's Michael Cox also praised the Dane's distribution:
Ter Stegen is playing second fiddle to Barca No. 1 Claudio Bravo as things stand, and the Germany international has featured just four times in La Liga this season, creating doubt over his future at the club.
Leicester are likely to drive a hard bargain for key man Schmeichel, who may be open to such a high-profile switch as he approaches 30, with the reigning champions of Europe on his tail.
