Floyd Mayweather Sr. Says He'd 'Whip the S--T' out of Adrien Broner
Floyd Mayweather Sr. has brazenly stated he’d fancy his chances of beating Adrien Broner and has played down talk of his son going up against the controversial fighter.
Broner called out Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the wake of his win over Ashley Theophane on Friday night, insisting he’d felt disrespected by the iconic boxer turned promoter. But amid tentative talk of a return to the ring for Money, his father has vehemently denied this is the case and has lashed out at Broner, per Ryan Burton of BoxingScene.com:
"Oh man, listen. That is joke time man. You know that was April Fool's Day. Don't believe it. It ain't happening. It is not true.
All it is is for attention. I am telling you this right now—you can put this on the news if you want to—you tell Broner to come down here to the gym and I will whip his ass; I will whip the s--t out of him. I will probably stop him. I ain't like my son. I will probably stop his ass. I ain't just standing here. I am standing here in front of all y'all. Y'all can tell him. Make sure it is known.

Broner got the better of Theophane via a late stoppage, and as we can see, courtesy of PBC, afterwards, his attention turned to his opponent’s promoter:
Mayweather Jr. blasted Broner's ability to draw in big numbers ahead of the fight, per FightHype.com (h/t Brian Campbell of ESPN.com): “It could be safe to say that one of my cars cost more than he made his whole career."
He also issued this response to Broner, calling him out after the win, per FightHype.com:
Money has been out of the ring since beating Andre Berto via a unanimous decision last year, preserving a perfect career record of 49-0. While there’s been some speculation about a return, the prospect has never materialised.
A brash Broner clearly wants to ensure that Mayweather Jr.’s stint away from the sport comes to an end pretty soon, but it seems as though it’d be a fight that’d be too much too soon for the man known as The Problem.

He was stripped of his WBA light welterweight belt ahead of the tussle with Theophane for failing to make the 140-pound weight limit; it’s the second time in his career he’s had a title taken off him for failing to make a cut. Additionally, Broner turned himself into police Monday, with the fighter wanted on two warrants for a felony assault and aggravated robbery, per Dan Rafael of ESPN.com.
Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix is unsure as to whether The Problem would cause many issues at all for Mayweather Jr.:
The call out did seem a little desperate from a man who would have had adrenaline pumping after a victory. While Mayweather Sr.’s suggestions that he could beat Broner are a little harsh on the fighter, he’s correct in his assessment that a showdown with Money looks a long way off from coming to fruition in the future.

Mayweather Jr. has so far resisted the urge to take to the ring professionally for what would be a landmark 50th occasion. If he was to come back, you suspect the 39-year-old would do so for an established, elite opponent in an event that’d be extremely lucrative.
Broner is currently seeking to re-establish his reputation in the sport, and he doesn’t tick many boxes for Money if he was indeed pondering a potential comeback. The Problem is a fighter who needs to continue to take steady steps in his career, not giant risky leaps up against competitors who are a class above.
