Liverpool Transfer News: Latest on Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Suarez Rumours
Fiorentina president Mario Cognini has said Liverpool targets Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Suarez will only be allowed to leave the club on loan after recent speculation.
Cognini told Italian newspaper Corriere Fiorentino the two individuals will not exit the Viola unless they find replacements for their talents (h/t Football Italia):
"Pepito Rossi is very eager and cares about Fiorentina a great deal.
His current situation should also be understood and if he does go to play elsewhere, it’ll only be because we think he can find himself again and in future help Fiorentina.
There is one condition, though. In order for this to happen, we need to ensure Fiorentina do not lose balance in that area. If someone leaves, then another player must arrive.
Is there a player who is ready to go and fits the bill? Are there clubs willing to release one of their first choice players to reinforce an opponent?
The exact same situation is in play with Mario Suarez.
"

Italian daily Gazzetta Dello Sport reported the Reds will compete with Sampdoria and Bologna for Rossi, who previously represented Manchester United for three seasons in 2004. The 28-year-old attacker also had a spell on loan at Newcastle United but failed to make an impression in the northeast.
However, the Italy international had a hugely successful spell at Villarreal in La Liga as a regular goalscorer for six years.
Spain international midfielder Suarez was reportedly ready to force through a move to Liverpool in the January window, as he struggles for playing time at Fiorentina, according to reports in Italy (h/t talkSPORT).

The defensive entity has only four starts to his name in Serie A this season, according to WhoScored.com, and will desire extra minutes.
Italian outlet ItaSportPress (h/t the Telegraph) said Liverpool are "weighing up" an £18 million move for Rossi, who has suffered with injuries and wants to get his career back on track.
The marksman has a credible career strike rate—scoring 115 goals in 275 appearances overall—per the Telegraph. Rossi's agent Andrea Pastorello said his client is keen to start playing regularly once again:
"He's like a dog chasing his tail.
To be a top player he has to get back to full fitness, but to do that he needs to play consistently.
It’s a thought, nothing more. It’s absolutely not a problem or a controversy, but there’s no doubt that if he doesn’t play it’ll be difficult for him to get back to being the top player he is.

Here is a video displaying Rossi's potency:
Rossi and Suarez are both quality talents, but it is questionable if they are the answers to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp's current issues.
Liverpool fell to defeat once again in the Premier League, as West Ham United despatched their visitors 2-0 at Upton Park on Saturday, with Klopp looking crestfallen on the touchline as his side capitulated.
Rossi failed during his early years in England but developed into an economical striker on the continent during his stay at the Yellow Submarine.
However, his injuries would make his signing a huge risk for Klopp in January, and a loan might be best for all parties, minimising Liverpool's financial risk.
Suarez has the defensive properties Klopp certainly needs, but his lack of football will not allow him to be ready for Premier League action immediately.
He will be forced to have a mini pre-season as he gets up to speed for the rigours of English football, but he could be a good long-term capture as he has significant experience as a player.
