Shorts Has Been Inconsistent in Passing Game
The Buccaneers offense has been hit-or-miss as quarterback Jameis Winston continues to be inconsistent in his second season.
Shorts has played a minimal role in the Bucs offense thus far. The 28-year-old missed three games earlier this season because of a hamstring injury. Over the first eight weeks, he had a total of one reception, though he did catch fire in Week 11 against the Kansas City Chiefs with a season-high five catches and 62 yards.
Injuries have hampered Shorts throughout his career, including last season, when he missed five games and had only one catch in the Houston Texans' playoff loss against Kansas City.
While the absence of Shorts and Adam Humphries—who also left Sunday's game before being evaluated for a concussion, per Scott Smith of the team's official website—leaves the Buccaneers with a void, they do have Mike Evans on the outside to help the offense keep its head above water in Shorts' absence.
