Galloping Gobbler Award 2015: Matthew Stafford Wins Thanksgiving Day Award
After leading the Detroit Lions to a thorough 45-14 beating over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thanksgiving, quarterback Matthew Stafford was named the winner of the Galloping Gobbler Award as the most valuable player on Fox's telecast.
Stafford is the third Lion to ever win since the award's conception in 2002 and the first since Reggie Bush in 2013.
Detroit's quarterback ripped apart the Eagles secondary, completing 27 of 38 passes for 337 yards and five touchdowns. According to SportsCenter, Stafford is just the fifth quarterback ever to throw for five touchdowns in a Thanksgiving game.

It is also Detroit's biggest win on Thanksgiving since a 55-20 thrashing of the Chicago Bears in 1997.
Stafford's connection with star wide receiver Calvin Johnson was as strong as ever on Thursday, as the pair hooked up for eight completions for 93 yards and three touchdowns. The NFL shows the duo's first touchdown of the game:
For those who have Stafford and Johnson on their fantasy teams, Thanksgiving was even more bountiful, as NFL Fantasy Football highlighted:
It's one of Stafford's best performances of the 2015 season, and the Lions won their third straight game to improve to 4-7. Stafford only threw for 300 yards once this season, which was a 405-yard, four-touchdown effort against the Chicago Bears in Week 6.
If the Lions want any chance of seeing the postseason, they'll have to win out to finish at 9-7. Having Stafford put together performances like the one he had on Thanksgiving will surely help their chances.
