Smart Looking to Build on Sophomore Campaign
It's an unfortunate coincidence for Smart, who suffered the same injury to the same ankle under the same basket at TD Garden in 2014, according to Abby Chin of CSN.
During his second full season with the Celtics, Smart averaged 9.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals as a key member of Boston's bench mob in 2015-16. All told, the Celtics posted a defensive rating of 100.2 with Smart on the floor—1.2 points better than when he was on the bench, per NBA.com's stats database.
However, Smart missed 21 games during that sophomore campaign in large part because of an injury to his lower left leg that sidelined him for several weeks.
