Arsenal Transfer News: Top Players Wanted by Arsene Wenger, Latest Rumours

Matt JonesNov 13, 2015

Marseille president Vincent Labrune has named his price to sell reported Arsenal target Michy Batshuayi: a whopping €50 million (£35 million).

Speaking with La Derniere Heure (h/t Sean Kearns of Metro), Labrune had effusive praise for the young striker, who has been in red hot form as of late. However, he also admitted Batshuayi could well leave the Ligue 1 side should one of European football’s juggernauts stump up the aforementioned amount:

"

There is not a single top 15 world club that is not interested in Batshuayi. He is one of the most wanted players on the market. There were a lot of offers for him this summer, but he did not want to leave.

He is proving himself on the pitch. And if clubs want him then they are going to have to pay up. Around €50m!

It has previously been reported by Calciomercato (h/t Will Giles of Metro) that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is “bewitched” by the player and will seek to strike a deal in the midseason window. A dynamic option at the point of the attack would certainly be most welcome for the Gunners, as they seek to mount a major challenge for the Premier League title this term.

While Batshuayi has always been a talent, this season he’s really started to make a telling impression in dangerous areas, per WhoScored.com:

Indeed, at the moment Wenger has to opt for the refined, stationary presence of Olivier Giroud up top, or the vibrant, erratic influence of Theo Walcott. The Belgian, while not the finished article yet, is a player who amalgamates the finest qualities of both of these forwards and would potentially bring a lot more balance to the Arsenal attack.

Even so, £35 million is a little pricey, especially for a manager like Wenger who is very careful when it comes to money in the January window. Should the Gunners boss feel his forward line needs beefing up in the summer, Batshuayi has the potential to be an excellent long-term solution should he continue developing.

Arsenal in Battle for Leroy Sane

According to SportBild (Luke Gardener of the Daily Star), Arsenal are ready to rival Liverpool in pursuit of Schalke 04 starlet Leroy Sane.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a scintillating start to the 2015-16 campaign with the Bundesliga outfit, fully cementing his status as one of the standout young players in German football. Now it seems as though two of the Premier League’s most illustrious clubs will seek to lure him away from the Veltins-Arena.

A strong start to this term prompted German manager Joachim Low into handing the teenager his national team debut in Friday’s friendly against France. As we can see courtesy of Squawka Football, it was an opportunity Sane has definitely earned:

Arsenal has always been a brilliant venue for players of Sane's style to develop and it’s little surprise to read they’re interested in his services. Should the Gunners beat Liverpool to his signature it could prove to be a substantial coup, although for the time being, getting regular minutes at the core of this Schalke side is the most suitable way for Sane to continue progressing.
