Boyang Jin Records Highest-Scoring Element in Figure Skating History at Audi Cup
Chinese figure skater Boyang Jin put his immense potential on full display Friday at the Audi Cup with the highest-scoring element in the sport's history.
Ice Network confirmed the record-breaking performance, noting it came when the 18-year-old rising star combined a quad lutz with a triple toe loop during his first set of jumps. It received a 19.19 element score, beating the previous mark of 19.00 held by Kevin van der Perren of Belgium.
Eurosport pointed out the highlight-reel display wasn't enough to earn Boyang first place in the competition, however. Javier Fernandez of Spain posted a winning total of 93.19 points. The Chinese sensation finished second with 90.05 points.

Here's a look at Boyang's full routine:
Although his presentation needs more polish, his technique makes him one of the sport's most intriguing young talents.
Boyang illustrated that on the Junior Grand Prix circuit with several gold medals, including one at the 2013-14 Junior Grand Prix Final. He has also shined on the national level, winning each of the past two Chinese Figure Skating Championships.
He's continued to build on that success, and with the ability to execute such high-end moves at this early stage of his career, he's somebody to watch out for on the Olympic stage in the future.
