Foster Out for Season

Monday, Oct. 26

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Foster's MRI confirmed the torn Achilles, ending his season. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports confirmed the report.

O'Brien Comments on Foster's Injury

Sunday, Oct. 25

With Foster being injured late a blowout loss, O'Brien said he did not regret having the running back in the game, despite the outcome having been decided.

Foster Has Battled Injuries Throughout Career

Foster's 2015 debut was delayed after he suffered a groin injury that required surgery, but he returned in Week 4 in a limited capacity and ramped up his snap count from there.

Through three games prior to Sunday, he had totaled just 104 rushing yards with no touchdowns over 45 carries. He did tally 17 catches for 161 yards and a score prior to Sunday, however.

When he's been healthy, Foster has operated as the centerpiece of a Houston offense that's devoid of playmakers outside of the star running back and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

Dating back to his breakout 2010 campaign, he has appeared in all 16 games just twice. The franchise's leading rusher missed three games during the 2011 and 2014 seasons and made it on the field for just eight games in 2013. With this latest injury, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle speculated it might be the last time Foster played in a Texans uniform:

Foster has played through bumps and bruises in the past, but the rate at which he's sustained them is particularly alarming now that he's close to being on the wrong side of 30. Given the serious-sounding nature of this injury, it may be a long time before he's healthy enough to return to game action.
