IK Enemkpali Suspended: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction
Buffalo Bills linebacker IK Enemkpali has been suspended for four games after an incident in August that left New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith with a broken jaw.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirmed Enemkpali was informed of his ban, while the Associated Press first reported the length of the suspension Sept. 10 (via ESPN.com).
The news comes after the Bills moved Enemkpali to the main roster to avoid losing him to another team during the ban, per Rapoport. Mike Rodak of ESPN previously noted the defender would appeal the decision.

The Jets immediately released the 24-year-old linebacker following his run-in with Smith in the locker room. The quarterback was ruled out for at least six weeks after what head coach Todd Bowles called a "childish" situation, as noted by Seth Walder and Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.
"There was an altercation in the locker room," Bowles said. "Had nothing to do with football. Something very childish. He got cold cocked, sucker punched whatever you want to call it, in the jaw."
Adam Schefter of ESPN later reported the situation stemmed from a dispute over a $600 plane ticket. Smith originally told Enemkpali he would reimburse him but never did, leading to a confrontation and the eventual punch.
On Monday, Smith confirmed he had no plans to file assault charges against his former teammate for breaking his jaw, per Rich Cimini of ESPN. The quarterback stated he didn't do anything to provoke the actions, but he refused to provide further details, citing the league's ongoing investigation at the time.
The report also notes Smith is currently expected to miss the first four games of the regular season as he recovers from the injury. Ryan Fitzpatrick will start under center for the Jets in the meantime.
Enemkpali isn't expected to take on much of a role for the Bills, which already own one of the league's most star-studded groups of pass-rushers. He was signed as insurance in case a member of the starting front seven got injured.
