The world's biggest football teams are often accused of being greedy and self-interested when it comes to extorting fans and inflating transfer fees. But when it comes to the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis, several major sides have stepped up to show their humanitarian concern.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have each pledged to donate €1 million to help refugees, while Roma have given over £400,000 to the cause.

Additionally, the 80 teams involved in this season's Europa League and Champions League have all agreed to donate €1 from every ticket sold from their opening game of each respective competition, as per the Guardian.

Now, Paris Saint-Germain have shown their compassion by donating €1 million to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the French nonprofit organisation Secours populaire francais via their own charitable foundation.

A PSG statement issued to Bleacher Report stated that the club's revenue will be used to provide for "the essential needs of refugees including shelter provision, water and sanitation, blankets and other emergency relief items, while implementing educative and sportive projects."

The Financial Times reports that France will accept 24,000 within the next two years.
