At this point last year, Penn State had just one recruit for the 2008 class. As of today, May 27, 2008, Penn State has landed recruits number nine and 10 in the last two days for its 2009 class.

The defensive side of the ball seems to be shaping up very well for the future of Penn State.

As reported a couple weeks ago, Stephon Morris was close to committing at the time. Well as of May 26, he is a Nittany Lion.

Stephon is the fifth DB of the class, and will join his high school teammate, and fellow DB, Derrick Thomas. Lets hope that the Greenbelt, Md. high school Football team had a solid secondary last year!

Stephon Morris: Cornerback from Greenbelt (MD) Eleanor Roosevelt

Ht: 5-foot-8
Wt: 173 lbs
Forty: 4.48 secs
Vertical: 37 inches
Class: 2009 (High School)
College Choices: Tennessee, Virgina Tech, Louisville, Rutgers, Illinois

The 10th commitment to the 2009 class is 4 Star Defensive end from Gaithersburg, Md. Sean Stanley.

Here are some of his specs:

Strongside DE
Gaithersburg (MD) Gaithersburg
Wt: 250 lbs
Forty: 4.7 secs
GPA: 3.28
Class: 2009 (High School)

Sean picked Penn State over Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Virginia Tech, and Nebraska, just to name a few.

All Maryland recruits are being recruited by Defensive Line coach Larry Johnson Sr. Over the last few years, Johnson has recruited the likes of Derrick Williams and Justin King.

LJ Sr. has done a great job, and definitely seems to have a lock on Maryland players.

As mentioned above, the defensive side of the ball looks like it will be strong for the foreseeable future.

Its now time to really lock into some offensive weapons like San Diego, California QB, Tate Forcier, who has Penn State near the top of his list, or RB Tavon Austin from Baltimore, Md., and WR Justin Brown from Wilmington, Delaware, just to name a few.

All three are being recruited by some big time schools and have Penn State near the top of their lists.
