Jackson Injury Details Revealed

Monday, Dec. 5

Colts coach Chuck Pagano confirmed Jackson was placed in the NFL's concussion protocol, according to Mike Chappell of Indysportscentral.com.

This is a difficult blow for the Indianapolis defense if the injury is significant, especially since Jackson has avoided serious physical setbacks for much of his career. He played in all 16 games in each of the last five seasons and has played fewer than 13 games only once since entering the league in 2006.

He came to Indianapolis before the 2014 campaign after seven seasons with the Cleveland Browns and earned a Pro Bowl nod behind a career-high four sacks and four fumble recoveries. He appeared rejuvenated playing for a winning team and was a critical part of a squad that finished a single game short of the Super Bowl.

He followed that up with three sacks and 150 combined tackles in 2015 and has racked up 74 tackles heading into Monday for the 2016 season.

The offense has the potential to be one of the more talented units in the league with quarterback Andrew Luck and a plethora of weapons, so the Colts should survive as long as the defense is adequate until Jackson returns.

The postseason aspirations are still in place, but this defense will be much stronger when the veteran is back and healthy.
