10 Reasons Why It's Ronda Rousey's World

Nick DimengoAug 6, 2015

If you haven't notice by now, UFC fighter Ronda Rousey is a pretty big deal.

Undefeated in her sport and, seemingly, everywhere on your TV and computer screen over the past few months, Rousey has shown that she has some charm behind the intensity she shows inside of the Octagon, making her one bankable star.

And while there have been other athletes who have had amazing summers, here are 10 reasons why it's Ronda Rousey's world, and we're all just lucky enough to live in it.

She Has Accepted (And Likes) Playing the Villain.

1 of 10

You've really got to admire an athlete who isn't about that whole "nice person" life, you know?

While there are so many superstars who get to the top and are forced to play the PC card, Ronda Rousey isn't most athletes, openly saying she's cool with being cast as a villain in her sport, via The New Yorker:"I’m the heel, I’m the antihero,” she says. “And I like it that way."

Sure, lots of great players use hate and criticism to amp themselves up before a big fight or game, but Rousey seems to enjoy it more than all of the other parts of being the best in her sport, which is a rare existence.

Other Great Athletes Are Afraid of Her.

Want to know what's really scary? How about Conor McGregor—the current UFC Interim Featherweight Champion who holds an 18-2 career record himself and is considered one of the nastiest UFC fighters around—actually admitting that he would be fearful of getting in the Octagon against Ronda Rousey?

No, that's not a typo.

Recently talking to SI Now, McGregor said:

"

"I swear on my life her back muscles were the most solidest back muscles I'd ever felt in my life," recalling a time when he saw Rousey and embraced her. "I thought if this lady was to get a hold of me, she would throw me on my head in literally one second flat. So I would not like to engage in a clinch fight with Ronda."

"

That's some high praise, if you ask me.

Scaring the hell out of grown-ass men who are just as accomplished only proves how respected Ronda Rousey is in her sport.

Companies Are Lining Up to Work with Her.

While there are disparaging ranges of what Ronda Rousey's actual net worth is, one thing is clear—she will only be adding to her bank account in the next couple of years.

Like other great athletes who take over their sports, Rousey has earned the recognition of big-time brands, with companies like Monster headphones and Reebok inking her to deals that will make her the face of their UFC marketing efforts.

After Reebok signed a mega-partnership with UFC, the sports apparel company zeroed in on Rousey, offering her her very own contract to endorse the gear.

With a face like an angel and the intensity of the devil himself, Ronda Rousey will continue to grab marketing deals, so be prepared to see her all over the place.

She Fought Turtle in the 'Entourage' Movie.

4 of 10

For dudes everywhere, there might not have been a bigger movie more anticipated this summer than Entourage, which was the premier guy flick in 2015.

And while plenty of athletes and celebs made cameos, Ronda Rousey had one of the most memorable, as she had a full scene in which she was actually challenged by Turtle.

As expected, Rousey didn't play around because her opponent wasn't up to par—isn't that the case with almost anyone who steps into the Octagon with her?—as she made light, quick work of Turtle in her scene.

Like the aforementioned note about the camera loving Ronda for marketing deals, it also likes her on-screen, too—and she knows how to deliver.

She's the Most Dominating Star in UFC, Maybe in Sports.

Saying an athlete is the most dominating in the world is a major move that turns plenty of heads, but in some people's opinions, Ronda Rousey is the most deserving of the title.

Now before you go off about how insane that might be to even consider—and I agree with it—the case for Rousey is a solid one.

First off, she's humiliated her opponents at record pace, submerging them with famed arm bars and knockouts in short time.

Second, she is undefeated in her career and owns both the UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion, as well as the last Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion.

Third, while athletes like LeBron James and Mike Trout are amazing, they don't dominate as Ronda Rousey does, giving her plenty of street cred.

Hell, the fact that she's even in the conversation is respect for how great she is.

She Won't Let Anyone Get the Best of Her.

It has been a few years, but when Ronda Rousey posed nude for the famous ESPN Magazine Body Issue in 2012, it wasn't only because she wanted to show off the goods.

After speculation arose that she may go full-nude for Playboy, Rousey decided to bare down for ESPN Mag out of spite for an ex-boyfriend, who had pictures of the fighter saved on his computer from when they were together.

Rather than risk the pics being leaked, she beat him to the punch, stripping down to show everyone what she looks at everyday—and what he, presumably, wish he still had.

Some may say revenge is a bad thing, but I doubt Ronda Rousey is one of those people because she has to be laughing about how she punked that dude out.

One has to say that's quite the boss move.

She's Starring in a Biopic About Her Life.

7 of 10

It's rare for current athletes on the top of their games to agree to star in movies about their lives—especially one who's still just 28 years old.

That's what Rousey has signed up for, though, as Paramount Pictures has secured the rights to her autobiography, "My Fight/Your Fight," to put it into a film.

"

Mark Bomback on board to adapt the book, while Mary Parent is producing along with Rousey, with Bomback serving as exec producer.

“It’s a real honor to be a part of bringing Ronda’s incredible story to the bigscreen,” Parent said.

Written by Rousey with her sister Maria Burns Ortiz, “My Fight/Your Fight” is an inspirational story celebrating the accomplishments of Rousey, who faced extraordinary challenges on her path to glory. The book was published in spring by Regan Arts.

"

Outspoken about some of her past struggles—especially when it comes to criticism of her own body—Rousey's movie will be something that should be inspiring for girls who deal with similar problems.

She may be known as being "rowdy," but Ronda Rousey starring in her own biopic will be something that shows she's not all about mayhem all the time.

Fans Think She's the Best Fighter Around.

8 of 10

Placed in a category at this year's ESPY Awards with fellow UFC fighter Donald Cerrone, as well as boxers Floyd Mayweather, Terence Crawford and Gennady Golovkin, some may not have thought Ronda Rousey would defend her Best Fighter award.

Oh, but Rousey showed the boys she was the fan favorite.

Not only did she take home that award—along with the Best Female Athlete trophy—but she also took a dig at Mayweather. "I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once,” she said. “I’d like to see you pretend to not know who I am now.”

That's pretty harsh toward a fellow undefeated champion, but that's why you've just got to love Rousey.

She's Absolutely Ruthless.

9 of 10

There's not a whole lot of things a person can do in under a minute, let alone 34 seconds. Then again, Ronda Rousey isn't most people.

After recently defeating Bethe Correia in the UFC 190’s main event in a swift 34 seconds, Rousey showed that she is absolutely insane in the Octagon.

Oh, and she also happens to have a good memory. She yelled the words, "Don't cry," to Correia after knocking her out with a quick right hook during their bout.

Strange, those happen to be the exact words Correia yelled in the face of Rousey during their weigh-in, meaning Rousey has that gene that not only wants to punish an opponent, but also ridicule her, too.

She Isn't Afraid of Anyone.

10 of 10

It seems like a common theme in this piece that Ronda Rousey continues to attack undefeated boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr.

From the ESPY Awards jab to Rousey once saying the only way she would step into the ring with Money Mayweather would be, "if we were dating," Ronda has shown that she's not afraid of the brash Mayweather.

The words on the ESPY red carpet were the ones that created the most buzz, though, as Rousey said it was a diss that Floyd said a year ago that really caused her to verbally get revenge, per MMAJunkie:

"

"I know for damn sure he knew who I was. He was running against me for ‘Best Fighter’ that year and he had signed MMA fighters, so his feigned ignorance was meant to really be a snarky remark to me. I don’t let those kind of things slide, but I’m also a patient girl. I’m not the kind of chick you make snarky remarks about. I waited a whole year to say something. And you know what? If I didn’t win ‘Best Fighter’ this year, I would have waited two years or three years.”

"

Whether it's one of her opponents inside the Octagon or a fellow great fighter—even in another sport—Ronda Rousey is that boss girl who won't back down.
