Watson Practicing Without Restrictions

According to Tigernet.com's Tony Crumpton, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney discussed the progress Watson's made throughout the rehabilitation process when he met with reporters at a media golf outing Wednesday evening:Â
"He's been full go since May. He's done everything. He really did a lot in the spring. We're as confident as you can possibly be in a guy. He's done everything and not missed anything. He's been at all of the workouts and skills and drills. He's an above and beyond guy, whatever you tell him he needs to do, he will do above and beyond what he needs to do and go above that. He looks great, great summer and excited to get back there. When we start in a couple of weeks, he'll be leading the charge with no restrictions and he has been doing that and has not missed anything.
"
According to College Football Talk's John Taylor, Watson was one of 24 quarterbacks named to the Davey O'Brien Award watch list Thursday. Furthermore, the Clemson signal-caller joined Auburn's Jeremy Johnson, Miami's Brad Kaaya, Memphis' Paxton Lynch and Arizona's Anu Solomon as the only sophomores to qualify for the esteemed list.
Watson was horribly banged up during his freshman year, as he dealt with a broken bone in his right hand and a broken collarbone prior to tearing the ligament in his knee. Â Â
But when he was healthy, Watson was among the nation's most polished passers. As a freshman, he completed 67.9 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,466 yards, 14 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Watson also ran for 200 yards and five scores on 63 carries.Â
With Watson presumably back under center at 100 percent, Clemson has every reason to be optimistic as it gears up for a new season.Â
