In the aftermath of the United States women clinching their spot in the Women's World Cup final on Tuesday night, Donovan sent out a tweet praising Abby Wambach's veteran presence—the exact thing most people expected Donovan to provide in Brazil.

In the past, he showed he was able to take the snubbing in good stride.
But this wasn't the first time in recent weeks he alluded to the snub on Twitter. Donovan sent out this tweet when the American Gold Cup squad was announced:
