In what was a sloppy game, Boise State beat the Oregon Ducks 19-8. The end of the game might worst possible way for new coach Chip Kelly to start his tenure.
After the game was over and the teams head to middle field Boise State’s Byron Hout came up to Oregon’s LaGarrette Blount to talk trash. That is when Blount punched Hout in the jaw and talked trash right back to the Boise State team.
Blount then attacked his teammates as they tried to get him off the field. Before Blount left the field the replay had been showed on TV several times and the Boise State fans noticed what went on and started talking trash.
The Oregon coaches then tried to restrain Blount and get him off the field. Blount was not having it and want to fight his way out of the stadium.
Coaches and law enforcement officials had to physically grab Blount and carry him off the field. Blount was still screaming at the Boise fans and players as they dragged him back to the locker room.
Scott Frost the Oregon coach tried his best to drag Blount off the field. Head coach Chris Peterson immediately grabbed Hout and began to yell at him and force him off the field.
No doubt Hout was wrong for talking trash to Blount. That given there is no place in for the actions by Blount.
I am sure the PAC Ten will suspend him for at least one game but Blount should be suspended longer. The display he showed at the end of the ball game put a black mark on the Oregon program that will follow it the rest of this season and beyond.
Blount should be suspended for at least half if not the whole season for his post game actions. No matter what Hout said Blount should have acted with more class.
Chip Kelly now has more problems than just a loss in the first game of the season to deal with. Kelly will now have to try to keep this team together and not let this incident put out black cloud on the season.
To do that Kelly has to get rid of Blount, maybe for good.
