Summer 2007 Signings: Sir Alex Ferguson's Best Ever

Adam idleMay 20, 2008

Sir Alex Ferguson splashed out big money on four players back in the summer of 2007, and all four have settled in so well at Manchester United that you would have thought that they had been there forever.

It took a while for the United manager to finally land Carlos Tevez from West Ham, but he would be the first to tell you it was well worth the wait.

Tevez missed the first game of the 2007-08 season against Reading, but made his United debut three days later on a wet August night at Portsmouth.

Even though United were held to a 1-1 draw, you could see in just those first 90 minutes that he was going to be a great plus for Sir Alex Ferguson's side as they set out to regain the Premier League title.

Tevez has gone on to score 19 goals and has created a lot of goals for the likes of Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Owen Hargreaves has made himself a big hit with the fans at Old Trafford with his will to win every game that he is a part of.

He has played mostly in his favourite position in the center of midfield, but has also filled in for Wes Brown at right back in some very important games this season and not looked out of place one little bit.

He is a very useful player for United to have in their squad, and looks like he could be at Old Trafford for a very long time.

Portuguese  winger Nani could never have thought for a minute that he would feature in 40 games this season for the champions when he arrived from Sporting Lisbon.

Even though he still gives the ball away more than most of his teammates, he brings that something different to the game, which is why Ferguson has given the 22-year-old a lot of time on the field this season.

Nani looks a lot like Ronaldo did in his first year in England and although Nani is going to be in for some ups and downs over the next few years, he looks to have the self-confidence, like Ronaldo, to go on to be a great player.

Last, but by no means least, of Ferguson's summer signings was Anderson, the Brazilian who, at the age of only 20, has bossed the midfield in a lot of big games this season against some great players.

The United fans love him, and he looks like he could be the long term replacement for Paul Scholes. Anderson has a long future ahead of him at United and could go on to be a United great.

All four players could play a big part against Chelsea tomorrow in the Champions League final and help United win the Double.

Not bad for their first season.
