Hilarity Ensues When Non-German-Speaking Reporter Blogs Jurgen Klopp Presser

Sean SwabyApr 15, 2015

In terms of a difficult assignment, The Telegraph's Ben Bloom's was Mission Impossible.

They weren't speaking his language...literally.

Bloom was tasked with covering Borussia Dortmund's announcement that Jurgen Klopp would end his tenure with the club at season's end.

One major problem, though: The press conference was all in German. Bloom doesn't speak German.

His live blog of the event, however, wound up being pure gold as a result of it being held in a language not his native tongue.

Some of the highlights:

His Twitter feed was equally amusing.

"

Not sure I've ever regretted dropping German post-GCSE as much as I do now, while live blogging a Borussia Dortmund press conference

— Ben Bloom (@benbloomsport) April 15, 2015"
"

Ben Bloom is my new favourite Internet thing and can we keep him?

— Capital K (@Styla73) April 15, 2015"

He even trended in Germany as a result!

Never give up on those foreign language classes, kids.
