USMNT Watch: Hamid, Howard Make Key Saves in Victories
There is no question that goalkeeper is the deepest position on the United States men's national team's depth chart, and it might possess the most talent as well.
Two of the top netminders to wear the red, white and blue over the last year turned in terrific performances for their respective sides this weekend.
Bill Hamid allowed D.C. United to steal three points on Friday, while Tim Howard made a sensational save against Southampton on Saturday.
Continue reading below for a detailed look at both performances and a roundup of how the rest of the USMNT contingent fared over the last three days.
Hamid Leads D.C. United to Surprising Win
Against expansion side Orlando City on Friday, D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid made five key saves in his side's 1-0 victory at the Citrus Bowl.
One of his best saves came in the 33rd minute on Lions' defender Rafael Ramos, who attempted to finish off a move started by Kaka in the penalty area.

On the opposite side of the pitch, Orlando's Brek Shea made a spectacular goal-line clearance in the 68th minute. However, D.C. pulled off a surprising victory against an Orlando team that controlled the pace for the majority of the match thanks to a Luis Silva free-kick.
Elsewhere in Major League Soccer, Harry Shipp continued his terrific run of form with two assists in Chicago's 3-2 win over Toronto. Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore both played 90 minutes for the Reds.
Lee Nguyen scored from the spot in New England's 2-0 win over Colorado, Clint Dempsey started for Seattle and the duo of Gyasi Zardes and Omar Gonzalez went the full 90 in LA's loss to Vancouver.
Howard Makes a World-Class Save in Everton's Victory
Howard showcased a ton of ability on a magnificent save in the 11th minute of Everton's 1-0 win over Southampton.
The key denial was one of two saves made by Everton's No. 1 in the Toffees victory, which pushed them up to 11th place in the English Premier League table.
Brad Guzan started once again for Aston Villa, but he ended up on the wrong side of the final score as the Villans fell 3-1 to Manchester United.
Geoff Cameron played all 90 minutes of Stoke City's 2-1 loss to Chelsea. The Potters currently sit in 10th place with 42 points.

In the Championship, Tim Ream earned a spot in the starting lineup for Bolton Wanderers' 1-1 draw with Blackpool. Danny Williams was not in the 18 for Reading.
Yarbrough Involved in Wild Affair
One of the new faces to the USMNT goalkeeping pool was involved in a wild shootout down in Liga MX on Saturday night.
William Yarbrough and Club Leon fell to Queretaro 5-4 in a match that saw four goals fly into the net after the 84th minute. Queretaro's Jonathan Bornstein also featured for 90 minutes in the contest.

Edgar Castillo and Atlas played to a 1-1 draw with Chivas de Guadalajara, while Greg Garza was involved for the first 67 minutes of Club Tijuana's 4-3 loss to Monterrey. Joe Corona came on as a substitute in the second half.
Michael Orozco, who delivered two solid showings for the Yanks against Denmark and Switzerland, went all 90 in Puebla's loss to Toluca.
Another new face for the USMNT, Ventura Alvarado saw nine minutes of action off the bench for Club America.
Mild Weekend in Germany
After springing one of the biggest club upsets of the season before the international break, Borussia Monchengladbach cruised to a 4-1 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday.
Fabian Johnson, who is used as a defender and midfielder by USMNT boss Jurgen Klinsmann, played the entire match on the left wing for the Bundesliga's third-place side.

Timothy Chandler also went the distance in Eintracht Frankfurt's 2-2 draw with Hannover. John Brooks also logged a 90-minute shift for Hertha Berlin on Sunday in their 2-0 win over Paderborn.
News and Notes
Aron Johannsson and Rubio Rubin both entered their respective matches as substitutes on Sunday in the Eredivisie. Johannsson saw 30 minutes of action for AZ Alkmaar, while Rubin featured in 26 for Utrecht.
Alejandro Bedoya scored in the 11th minute of Nantes' 2-1 home defeat to Caen.
Expect the roster for April 15's friendly with Mexico in San Antonio to feature mostly MLS players because of the location and timing of the match.
