Chelsea Transfer News: Latest on Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Oscar Rumours

Rory MarsdenMar 30, 2015

Gareth Bale's Real Madrid future continues to be in doubt with Chelsea reportedly set to approach the Welshman this summer, and the bid may be partly funded by the sale of Oscar.

According to Metro's Jamie Sanderson, the Blues are prepared to shell out a fee of £75 million for Bale in order to sign him up.

Rumours have abounded recently that Bale is unhappy at Madrid after facing criticism from fans following a spell of indifferent form, per Andy Brassell of ESPN FC.

Reports have suggested he is keen for a move away from Spain, and a return to the Premier League has been mooted, with Sanderson now suggesting Chelsea are prepared to make Bale their highest-paid player with a £300,000-a-week contract.

The 25-year-old would add his blistering pace and aggression to an already impressive Blues attack, and Bale could be the missing ingredient that brings Chelsea further success in Europe.

However, it is by no means guaranteed that Bale will be leaving Real in the summer, per Marca (h/t Sport Witness):

He has become a Champions League winner at the club and surely has ambitions to re-establish himself as one of Los Blancos' indispensable assets.

The astronomical figures being linked with Bale could certainly encourage some movement in the summer, but the Welshman currently looks most likely to stay on at the Bernabeu.

Bale is not the only Madrid star being linked with a summer move to Chelsea. Luka Modric is reportedly another key target for Jose Mourinho.

The Croatian is reportedly set to become surplus to requirements at Real when Paul Pogba moves to the Bernabeu in the summer, per the Daily Star's Harry Pratt, and the Blues are looking to snap Modric up, per Ben Jefferson in the Express.

Modric has experience playing under Mourinho during the Portuguese manager's time in charge at Real, and the 29-year-old has been linked with the Blues in the past, per B/R UK's Garry Hayes:

He is a high-quality central midfielder and would take some of the burden of creativity off Cesc Fabregas in the middle of the park.

Modric's previous experience in the Premier League with Tottenham would also be a bonus, as he would take little time to settle at Stamford Bridge.

With a number of players linked with moves to Chelsea over the summer, Oscar has been tipped to depart the club, with Serie A champions Juventus strongly linked with the Brazilian.

According to Simon Jones in the MailOnline, Juve scouts watched Oscar play as he scored in Brazil's 3-1 win over France in Paris on Thursday.

The 23-year-old has been out of form for his club of late, but at his best, he is a destructive force in the Chelsea attack—he has six goals and seven assists in the league this term, per Whoscored.com

His current contract at Stamford Bridge runs until 2019, thus Juventus would have to splash out to persuade Chelsea to part with Oscar.

The arrival of Modric or Bale could potentially see Chelsea allow Oscar to leave, but it is far from a sure thing, and Juve are in for a long-term battle if they want to sign him up.
