George M. Streinbrenner High School is set to open up within the next few days. The school is located in Lutz, Florida, which is near Steinbrenner’s home. How do you like that school logo? That’s something. I love the pinstripes behind the S. The school cost $60 million to make, and has state of the art facilities. Parents are trying to get their children included in the district so they could attend Steinbrenner High.

Who wouldn’t want to be associated with the most famous owner in all of sports and the Yankees. It would be like a dream come true for me. The school is going to open up with 1,600 students and the first year will have no senior class.

The school’s athletic teams are called the Warriors. The Yankees were also considered. The uniforms they will wear are navy and gold, and they won’t have names on the back just like the Yankees. The school will offer regular courses, as well as some special classes for students possibly pursuing a career in sports. They even have a course entitled BOSS. (Sports marketing, sports medicine and the business of sports)

George’s involvement in the community earned him the honor of having the school named after him. Good for him.
