The Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell reported that Kaminsky is questionable for the regular-season opener on Wednesday.
Hornets Need Kaminsky Healthy for Playoff Push
Kaminsky won almost every major individual honor during his four years at Wisconsin, but the jump to the NBA proved to be a difficult one. He averaged 7.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in 81 games as a rookie last season.
The 23-year-old has fans in the right places, as ESPN.com's Chris Forsberg reported after the draft that Charlotte's front office—led by owner Michael Jordan—turned down a trade package featuring six future picks from the Boston Celtics to select Kaminsky.
It's understandable why the Hornets were attracted to Kaminsky. He's a versatile big man who can score efficiently, and the Hornets finished in the bottom 10 in points per game in seven straight seasons before the 2015-16 season.
Scoring and consistency were problems for Kaminsky, who shot 41 percent from the field overall.
Kaminsky's health hasn't been a problem early in his career—he missed only one game as a rookie. It took time for him to become a star in college, so there's every reason to think he can turn things around despite this injury setback.
