2. Los Angeles Angels (65-43|2)
The offense continues to be absolutely lights out. The Halos lead all of baseball in hits (1,084) and batting average (.289), and they come second in runs (614), RBI (584), and on-base percentage (.353).
Kendry Morales (9 RBI last week) continues to be an RBI machine, while Erick Aybar (.333 avg last week) and Maicer Izturis (.455 avg/4 RBI last week) continue their great years.
Vladimir Guerrero (.350 avg/2 HR last week) is also continuing to rebound, while Chone Figgins (.050 avg last week) has been uncharacteristically in a slump.
Jered Weaver has thrown 22 strikeouts in his last two games (13.2 IP), while Joe Saunders (5 ER/1.2 IP last game) and Sean O'Sullivan (4 ER/5 IP last game) have struggled. The bullpen continues to be not so reliable.
3. Los Angeles Dodgers (67-44|1)
The Dodgers had a nice 10-week run in the No. 1 slot. The Dodgers still lead the National League in hits (1,071), batting average (.279), and on-base percentage (.353). Matt Kemp (.400 avg/1.100 OPS/10 RBI last week) has been an absolute beast, while "Mr. Clutch" Andre Ethier (.300 avg/6 RBI last week) had his fifth walkoff of the year and Orlando Hudson (.333 avg last week) continues his great year.
Manny Ramirez (.240 avg last week) is not being Manny, and James Loney (.207 avg last week) has been struggling. Chad Billingsley (1 ER/11 IP last week) and Clayton Kershaw (3 ER/11 IP last week) have continued to dominate.
Jason Schmidt (4 ER/3.2 IP last game) might have pitched his last game ever. Jonathan Broxton also blew another save last week, while the rest of the bullpen hasn't been stellar.
4. San Francisco Giants (61-49|8)
The Giants as a team batted a collective .326 last week. Eugenio Velez (.400 avg/1.033 OPS/6 RBI last week) has been on fire, while "Big Money" Bengie Molina (.421 avg/1.242 OPS/8 RBI last week) and "Little Money" Pablo Sandoval (.458 avg/1.186 OPS/5 RBI last week) continue to provide the Giants an offensive punch.
Freddy Sanchez (.346 avg/3 RBI last week) has also looked good in a Giants uniform. Aaron Rowand (.231 avg last week) and Randy Winn (.190 avg last week) have struggled. Barry Zito (4 ER/12 IP last week) has been great, as has Tim Lincecum (2 ER/7 IP last game).
Matt Cain (4 ER/8 IP last game) continues to eat innings, while Jonathan Sanchez (0 ER/7 IP last game) is great when he's on.
The pitching staff still leads all of baseball in ERA (3.47), while the defense let the team down last week (seven errors in six games).
5. St. Louis Cardinals (61-51|7)
"The Machine" Albert Pujols has already reached 100-plus RBI for the ninth consecutive season, and he's ended (.476 avg/1.497 OPS/8 RBI last week) his mini-slump.
Ryan Ludwick (.333 avg/3 RBI last week) and Matt Holliday (4 RBI last week) continue to be productive, while Mark DeRosa (.200 avg last week), Skip Schumaker (.214 avg last week), and Rick Ankiel (.214 avg last week) have struggled.
The pitching staff continues to be one of the best in baseball (3.79 ERA/1.32 WHIP). Adam Wainwright (3 ER/13.2 IP last week) continues to dominate, while Chris Carpenter (4 ER/8 IP last game) and Joel Pineiro (7 ER/5 IP last game) have thrown better stuff this year.
Kyle Lohse (5 ER/2.2 IP last game) also continues to have an ugly season, while Ryan Franklin has been a dominating closer.
6. Philadelphia Phillies (61-47|3)
Jimmy Rollins (.333 avg/1.111 OPS/6 RBI last week) has been on fire, while Raul Ibanez (.389 avg last week) has continued his great season. Chase Utley (.150 avg last week) and Jayson Werth (.130 avg last week) were uncharacteristically bad last week.
The Phillies still lead the National League in runs (566), home runs (149), RBI (542), total bases (1,667), and slugging (.445).
J.A. Happ continues to dominate, throwing another complete game shutout. Cliff Lee (1 ER/7 IP last game) is also having an easy time in the National League.
Jamie Moyer (6 ER/5 IP last game) continues to stink and could be the odd man out when Pedro Martinez comes up from his rehab. Cole Hamels (10 ER/10.1 IP last week) has also continued his season of struggles.
7. Colorado Rockies (60-50|9)
Dexter Fowler (.474 avg/1.342 OPS last week) has been hitting extremely well, as have Garrett Atkins (.333 avg/5 RBI last week) and Ian Stewart (.333 avg/1.012 OPS last week).
Clint Barmes (.063 avg last week) has struggled as of late, as has Chris Iannetta (.200 avg last week). Ubaldo Jimenez (1 ER/6.2 IP last game) has continued his consistent pitching, while Jason Marquis (8 ER/13 IP last week) and Jorge De La Rosa (7 ER/5 IP last game) have struggled.
Aaron Cook had to exit his last game early, and if he goes on the disabled list, trouble will brew for the Rockies.
Huston Street continues to dominate, while Rafael Betancourt has looked good, although Joe Beimel blew a save. The Rockies are only one of seven teams with winning records both at home and on the road.
8. Texas Rangers (61-48|4)
Michael Young (.321 avg/1.101 OPS/5 RBI last week) continues to sizzle. Josh Hamilton (.391 avg/1.092 OPS last week) is finally starting to hit better.
Andruw Jones (.174 avg last week) has struggled, as has Elvis Andrus (.222 avg last week). The Rangers lead all of baseball in home runs (169), and they're second in total bases (1,691) and slugging (.455).
Scott Feldman reached the 11-win mark despite yielding a bunch of runs. Tommy Hunter (2 ER/7 IP last game) continues to put up great rookie numbers, and Kevin Millwood (2 ER/6 IP last game) continues his dominant season.
Vicente Padilla has been designated for assignment, so Dustin Nippert (0 ER/5 IP last game) is up. Also, welcome to the majors and watch out for Neftali Feliz (8 Ks/4.2 IP last week). C.J. Wilson also blew another save.
9. Tampa Bay Rays (61-49|10)
The Rays continue to dominate the Red Sox. Jason Bartlett (.333 avg/1.156 OPS/8 RBI last week) might be the most underrated Ray.
Carl Crawford (.300 avg/7 RBI/4 SB last week) has continued his dominating season, while Evan Longoria (7 RBI last week) continues to be a great run producer.
B.J. Upton (.200 avg last week), Carlos Pena (.167 avg last week), and Ben Zobrist (.136 avg last week) have been struggling to hit consistently.
Matt Garza (2 ER/7 IP last game) continues to dominate, but not get wins. James Shields (4 ER/12.2 IP last games) also has pitched like the ace of the team, while Scott Kazmir and David Price are pitching better, each having hurled a quality start for the win last week.
J.P. Howell also blew his first save since becoming the team's closer.
10. Boston Red Sox (62-47|6)
The Red Sox are reeling. Let's break down their schedule since the All-Star break. They're 8-13 since the All-Star break. Even a worse sign is that they're 0-8 against teams with a winning record since the break.
Victor Martinez (.357 avg/5 RBI last week) has been the most productive player with Dustin Pedroia (.308 avg/1.015 OPS last week) coming second. Big Papi (.043 avg last week) seems like he's letting his cheating scandal get to him.
The team is also suffering due to the absence of Jason Bay from the lineup. John Smoltz, after pitching horribly, was designated for assignment.
Josh Beckett (0 ER/7 IP last game) is smack in the Cy Young race, while Jon Lester (1 ER/10 Ks/6 IP last game) is pitching better. The bullpen has started to look shaky (5.46 ERA last week).
11. Detroit Tigers (58-51|13)
Placido Polanco (.400 avg/5 RBI last week), Curtis Granderson (.375 avg/1.006 OPS last week), and even Magglio Ordonez (.350 avg last week) have all been hitting well. Miguel Cabrera (7 RBI last week) continues to be the only consistent run producer on the team. Gerald Laird (.235 avg last week) has struggled offensively, while Alex Avila (5 RBI/8 AB) has looked great in his two games.
Jarrod Washburn (6 ER/5.1 IP last game) looked awful in his debut. Rick Porcello (2 ER/5.2 IP last game) continues to put up good rookie numbers, while Edwin Jackson (2 ER/8 IP last game) continues to dominate.
Justin Verlander gave up five earned runs in each of his last two starts, while Armando Galarraga (11 ER/10.2 IP last week) continued his inconsistent season.
12. Chicago Cubs (58-50|11)
The Cubs better hope Aramis Ramirez isn't seriously hurt again because he's been at the heart of their offense, although he's been struggling (.056 avg last week) as of late. Ryan Theriot (.333 avg last week) continues to be the most consistent bat, while Derrek Lee (4 RBI last week) continues to produce runs.
The story for the Cubs continues to be the dominance of their pitching staff (3.77 ERA/.245 batting average against). Ryan Dempster (2 ER/12 IP last week) is starting to pitch better, while Tom Gorzelanny and rookie Randy Wells each were dominating (1 ER/7.1 IP each last game).
Even Rich Harden (2 ER/6 IP last game) is pitching better, although Carlos Zambrano going on the DL won't help, and Kevin Gregg blew yet another save this week (thanks to "dead arm").
13. Seattle Mariners (57-53|14)
Rookie Michael Saunders (.429 avg/1.050 OPS last week) continues to look impressive. Ichiro Suzuki (.357 avg/4 RBI last week) continues to do what he does best. Russell Branyan (7 RBI last week) and Jose Lopez (6 RBI last week) continue to produce runs, despite not batting consistently.
Franklin Gutierrez (.364 avg last week) also continues to bat well.
Ian Snell looked good in his debut (2 ER/6 IP) but awful in his last start (3 ER/1.1 IP). Luke French (4 ER/5 IP last game) didn't have his best stuff in his debut, while Ryan Rowland-Smith (4 ER/4 IP last game) and Jason Vargas (7 ER/7 IP last game) also struggled.
The bullpen continues to be shaky, although David Aardsma continues to be one of the best closers in the game. The pitching staff is by far the best in the American League (3.97 ERA/1.33 WHIP).
14. Atlanta Braves (57-54|15)
Adam LaRoche is batting .379 since coming back to the Braves. Yunel Escobar (.364 avg last week) and Chipper Jones (.350 avg last week) continue to swing their bats well. Kelly Johnson (2 HR/last four games) has provided timely home runs, while Brian McCann (.125 avg last week) has struggled.
Kenshin Kawakami (3 ER/13 IP last week) has pitched well but doesn't have the wins to show for it. Jair Jurrjens (8 ER/9.1 IP last week) has struggled as of late. Javier Vazquez (2 ER/7 IP last game) continues to pitch great and be underrated, and Derek Lowe hasn't lost in over a month.
Tommy Hanson (2 ER/6 IP last game) continues to hurl great rookie stuff. Atlanta still has one of the best pitching staffs in the game (3.77 ERA/1.33 WHIP/.252 batting average against).
15. Chicago White Sox (57-54|17)
Rookie Gordon Beckham (.348 avg/1.081 OPS/5 RBI last week) continues his sensational season. Jim Thome (.304 avg/1.230 OPS/4 HR/8 RBI last week) continues to dominate with his bat.
Carlos Quentin (4 RBI last game) is starting to find his swing, while Jermaine Dye (.200 avg last week) has been struggling. Paul Konerko (.316 avg last week) has continued with his consistent batting.
Mark Buehrle (12 ER/12 IP last week) has struggled mightily, while Gavin Floyd (1 ER/8 IP last game) has been dominating. John Danks (6 ER/6.1 IP last game) and Jose Contreras (3 ER/2.2 IP last game) really need to improve their stuff.
The bullpen is starting to become more reliable again. Defense continues to be an issue, having committed eight errors in the last six games.
16. Florida Marlins (57-53|12)
Chris Coghlan (.481/1.258 OPS last week) has been absolutely on fire, Hanley Ramirez (.333 avg last week) continues to bat consistently, Cody Ross (1.258 OPS/6 RBI last week) is producing runs, and Dan Uggla (.368 avg/1.380 OPS/5 RBI last week) has been sizzling.
Jorge Cantu (.125 avg last week) and Jeremy Hermida (.200 avg last week) have been struggling, as the Marlins were swept by the Nationals.
The pitching staff has been inconsistent. Ricky Nolasco (3 ER/14 IP last week) continues to dominate, while Josh Johnson (4 ER/7 IP last game) has thrown better stuff.
Chris Volstad (4 ER/4.1 IP last game) and Rick VandenHurk (5 ER/4 IP last game) also didn't hurl their best stuff last week.
The bullpen has been iffy, especially Luis Ayala (4 ER/2 IP last week) and Kiko Calero.
17. Milwaukee Brewers (55-55|20)
Ryan Braun (.448 avg/1.103 OPS/9 RBI last week) is batting extremely well. Prince Fielder (6 RBI last week) continues to drive in runs, while Felipe Lopez (.308 avg/4 RBI last week) has provided another trustworthy bat to the Brewers lineup.
Mike Cameron (.190 avg/0 RBI last week) and J.J. Hardy (.154 avg/0 RBI last week) have both been struggling.
Braden Looper (1 ER/6.2 IP last game) pitched a good game against the Dodgers, while Manny Parra (7 ER/13.1 IP last week) has improved his game. Carlos Villanueva continues to stink as a starter with a 5.65 ERA in that role.
Yovani Gallardo (9 ER/5.1 IP last game) was absolutely terrible in his last start. Trevor Hoffman continues to be a dominating closer, while the rest of the bullpen has also been reliable.
18. Minnesota Twins (54-56|16)
Joe Mauer (.520 avg/1.476 OPS/8 RBI last week) is continuing to put up monster numbers. Denard Span (.423 avg last week) is batting well and continues to be underrated. Orlando Cabrera (.367 avg/4 RBI last week) is on an 18-game hit streak, while Jason Kubel (.333 avg/1.066 OPS last week) continues his monster season.
Joe Crede (.167 avg last week) has continued his injury-prone struggling season, while Nick Punto (.143 avg last week) has also struggled. The Twins offense is third in the American League in batting average (.269).
Carl Pavano (0 ER/7 IP last game) looked great in his debut. Scott Baker (0 ER/7 IP last game) and Nick Blackburn (2 ER/6.1 IP last game) also looked great in their last starts.
Ron Gardenhire is going to either move Francisco Liriano, Glen Perkins, or Anthony Swarzak to the bullpen.
19. Toronto Blue Jays (52-57|19)
Alex Rios was supposedly claimed off of waivers, but who is the mystery team? Rios (1.006 OPS/9 RBI last week) has been on fire during this whole thing.
Adam Lind (.318 avg/3 RBI last week) continues to have a great season, and Vernon Wells (5 RBI last week) is starting to bat better. Edwin Encarnacion (.200 avg last week) hasn't done anything special yet.
Ricky Romero (6 ER/13 IP last week) continues to put up good rookie numbers. Roy Halladay was outpitched against the Yankees despite throwing his fifth complete game of the season.
Rookies Brett Cecil (2 ER/4.1 IP last game) and Mark Rzepczynski (4 ER/6 IP last game) have good stuff, but haven't been pitching too well.
Brandon League (3 ER/1 IP last week) has been iffy out of the bullpen, and Scott Downs has gone on the DL.
20. Arizona Diamondbacks (50-61|22)
The loss of star Justin Upton to the disabled list wasn't a good sign for the Diamondbacks. Mark Reynolds (.444 avg/1.520 OPS/5 HR/9 RBI last week) is shooting up the MVP list.
Alex Romero (.474/1.079 OPS/5 RBI last week), Gerardo Parra (.441 avg/1.048 OPS last week), and Ryan Roberts (.471 avg/3 HR/1.609 OPS last week) have all been on fire.
Chris Young (.083 avg last week) has continued his struggles, while Stephen Drew (7 RBI last week) has been producing runs.
Jon Garland hurled a complete game gem, while Dan Haren has yielded five earned runs in each of his last two starts.
Doug Davis (2 ER/7 IP last game) has also pitched well, and Yusmeiro Petit took a no-hitter into the eighth inning. Chad Qualls is still nail-biting to watch.
21. Houston Astros (54-56|21)
The Astros became the first team to have three players (Ivan Rodriguez, Lance Berkman, and Carlos Lee) hit their 300th home runs in the same season. Lee (.400 avg/1.143 OPS last week) has been on fire, and Jason Michaels (6 RBI last week) has been producing runs.
Hunter Pence (.240 avg last week) and Rodriguez (.211 avg last week) have both been struggling. Bud Norris (2 ER/13 IP last week) has looked great since being called up.
Brian Moehler (6 ER/6 IP last game) continues to struggle, and Felipe Paulino has been sent down to the minors. Surprise, surprise as Mike Hampton left his last start early with a knee injury.
The good news for the Astros is that Wandy Rodriguez and Roy Oswalt both have stated that they'll be ready to make their next scheduled starts.
22. Oakland Athletics (48-62|23)
The A's designated Jason Giambi for assignment. Jack Cust (.136 avg/0 RBI last week) and Nomar Garciaparra (.222 avg last week) have also struggled.
The Athletics are the worst team in the American League in home runs (89), total bases (1,446), batting average (253), and slugging (.383). Rajai Davis (.375 avg/1.032 OPS/4 RBI last week) has been heating up. Mark Ellis (8 RBI last week) has been an RBI machine.
Gio Gonzalez (0 ER/6.2 IP last game) was great in his last start, as was Brett Anderson (2 ER/7.2 IP last game). Trevor Cahill (5 ER/6 IP last game) and Vin Mazzaro (10 ER/10 IP last week) have struggled as of late. Unfortunately for the A's, Dallas Braden was placed on the disabled list.
23. Cleveland Indians (47-63|27)
Asdrubal Cabrera (.500/1.269 OPS/5 RBI last week), Kelly Shoppach (.333 avg/1.108 OPS/5 RBI last week), and Grady Sizemore (.320 avg/4 RBI last week) have all been batting well.
Travis Hafner (.200 avg last week) has been struggling.
Aaron Laffey (0 ER/8 IP last game) was dominating in his last start, as were Fausto Carmona (1 ER/6 IP last game) and Jeremy Sowers (2 ER/7 IP last game). Justin Masterson (1 ER/4 IP last game) has looked good but is still on a strict pitch count.
David Huff (7 ER/4.2 IP last game) continues to be inconsistent. Tomo Ohka (5 ER/1.1 IP last week) has not looked good, and Jose Veras was designated for assignment after blowing a game for the Tribe.
24. San Diego Padres (47-65|24)
The offense is starting to produce some. Everth Cabrera (.348 avg/1.032 OPS/6 RBI last week) is on a nine-game hitting streak. Will Venable (6 RBI last week) has become a reliable run producer. Adrian Gonzalez (1.071 OPS/4 RBI last week) continues to do his thing.
Kevin Kouzmanoff (.143 avg last week) has been struggling, as has David Eckstein (.222 avg last week).
The Padres are the worst team in all of baseball in runs (418), RBI (404), batting average (.235), and slugging (.378). They're also second worst in hits (882) and total bases (1,413) and third worst in on-base percentage (.314).
Mat Latos has won four consecutive decisions in dominating fashion. Kevin Correia (3 ER/12.1 IP last week) has been reliable. Clayton Richard has been good but hasn't lasted past the sixth inning.
25. New York Mets (51-59|18)
The Mets have now lost six of seven and are 9-14 since the All-Star break. It always seems like only David Wright (.346 avg/4 RBI last week) is the only one producing.
Angel Pagan (.320 avg/6 RBI last week) has been a great run producer. Luis Castillo has missed some time due to injury.
Yet another player, Jonathon Niese, went on the disabled list. Oliver Perez (1 ER/6.1 IP last game) looked good in his last start.
Mike Pelfrey (3 ER/5 IP last game), Livan Hernandez (7 ER/5 IP last game), and even Johan Santana (5 ER/8 IP last game) all struggled in their starts list week.
Francisco Rodriguez (7 ER/5 IP last week) has looked terrible, blowing two consecutive saves.
26. Cincinnati Reds (47-62|28)
The offensive stud of the week for the Reds last week? It was Wladimir Balentien (.400 avg/4 RBI last week). Laynce Nix (6 RBI last week) has also been a good run producer. Joey Votto (.095 avg last week), Ryan Hanigan (.100 avg last week), Jonny Gomes (.111 avg last week), and Scott Rolen (.200 avg last week) have all struggled.
The Reds have the worst offense in baseball in hits (878), total bases (1,400), and on-base percentage (.310). They're also bottom-three in runs (435), RBI (407), batting average (.240), and slugging (.838).
Justin Lehr was impressive in his complete game shutout against the Cubs. Bronson Arroyo has hurled three quality starts but hasn't gotten a victory out of them.
Aaron Harang has also not won since the end of May, while Johnny Cueto's season has taken a complete nosedive, as he's lost five decisions in a row.
27. Baltimore Orioles (46-64|25)
Aubrey Huff (.345 avg/5 RBI last week), Nick Markakis (.310 avg/8 RBI last week), and Adam Jones (.308 avg/5 RBI last week) have all been great. Melvin Mora (.158 avg last week), Luke Scott (.188 avg last week), and rookies Matt Wieters and Nolan Reimold (.190 avg last week each) have been struggling.
Brian Matusz (1 ER/5 IP last game) looked sweet in his debut. Chris Tillman (2.70 ERA last game) also looked good after a rough outing.
David Hernandez (5 ER/3 IP last game) struggled in his last game, while Jeremy Guthrie (3 ER/7.1 IP last game) hurled another quality start.
No pitching staff gives up more hits (.281 batting average against) than the Orioles. The pitching staff also has a 4.99 ERA and 1.49 WHIP—hopefully these prospects can fix this.
28. Washington Nationals (39-72|30)
Has hell frozen over? The Nationals have won seven games in a row! The Nationals impressively had 47 RBI and slugged .555 as a team last week.
Ryan Zimmerman (.524/1.806 OPS/4 HR/7 RBI last week), Cristian Guzman (.480 avg/1.289 OPS/6 RBI last week), Adam Dunn (.400 avg/1.470 OPS/3 HR/7 RBI), Josh Willingham (.385 avg/1.197 OPS/7 RBI last week), and Elijah Dukes (8 RBI last week) all deserve props for their great play.
Nyjer Morgan (.258 avg/6 Ks) has been struggling though. John Lannan (2 ER/6 IP last game) continues to have a good year.
Garrett Mock (4 ER/10 IP last week) is starting to pitch better, while J.D. Martin and Collin Balester are still getting adjusted. Closer Mike MacDougal notched five consecutive saves without yielding a run.
29. Kansas City Royals (43-67|29)
Billy Butler (.462 avg/1.385 OPS/10 RBI last week) has been about the only good thing on the Royals offense. Willie Bloomquist (.154 avg last week) and Mark Teahen (.208 avg last week) have been struggling.
The Royals are either the worst or second worst offense in the American league in runs (441), hits (951), home runs (92), RBI (422), batting average (255), on-base percentage (.314), and slugging (.399). Bruce Chen (2 ER/6.2 IP last game) finally threw a good game.
Zack Greinke (9 ER/12 IP last week) has not been throwing his best stuff. Brian Bannister and Luke Hochevar have also been inconsistent. Kyle Davies (8 ER/3.2 IP last game) looked awful in his return.
30. Pittsburgh Pirates (45-65|26)
The Pirates have now lost seven in a row and are 7-15 since the All-Star break. The Pirates have scored three runs or fewer in nine of their last 16 games.
Brandon Moss (.071 avg last week) and Garrett Jones (.192 avg last week) have been struggling. Delwyn Young (5 RBI last week) has been a good run producer.
Ross Ohlendorf (1 ER/6 IP last game) looked good in his last start, but the bullpen blew it for him. Charlie Morton (1 ER/5 IP last game) has pitched well but hasn't gotten the run support.
Kevin Hart hurled a quality start in his debut, while Zach Duke (5 ER/5 IP last game) struggled in his last start.
