Arsenal Transfer News: Major Rumours Surrounding Gunners and Arsene Wenger

Nick AkermanDec 18, 2014

Krystian Bielik's parents are "convinced" heading to Arsenal is "the best step for their son," according to James Olley of the London Evening Standard.

Such a feeling places Arsene Wenger in an excellent position and could see the Legia Warsaw youngster exchange the Ekstraklasa for the Premier League in the near future. Olley believes a £2,000-per-week contract offer will be made and suggests Wenger wants Bielik in England before the end of the season.

The 16-year-old's parents, however, are said to believe the midfielder will find it easier to settle during the summer. According to Eurosport, Bielik has been invited to train at Arsenal's London Colney facilities, much like Norwegian wonderkid Martin Odegaard was earlier this month. The same publication also tweeted an image of the starlet in question:

Similar to Calum Chambers, Bielik can play in defensive midfield or as a centre-back. He already stands at 6'2", still has growing to do and is developing his physical game. Bielik has played just six times for Legia—including two minutes during a Europa League victory over Trabzonspor, per WhoScored.com—completing 90 minutes only once.

Despite this, his talents are well established at youth level, as noted below:

Arsenal are also said to be interested in Newcastle's Rolando Aarons, a player who should be more familiar to British audiences. The 19-year-old's representatives have reportedly rejected a £6,000-per-week contract at St. James' Park, which has alerted the Gunners, according to Adrian Kajumba of the Daily Star.

Per Kajumba, an inside source noted that Aarons' progression into the senior team isn't being adequately rewarded: "The contract is what you would expect them to offer someone in the reserve team not one of their best youngsters."

The Jamaica-born forward has made five senior appearances this season, per WhoScored.com. He scored in the 3-3 Premier League draw with Crystal Palace and netted an important goal in the Capital One Cup victory over Manchester City. He is blessed with pace, technical efficiency and an enthusiasm for committing his mark, making him an attractive prospect after such rapid progression.

Wenger isn't short on similar-styled attacking outlets, however.

Lukas Podolski's excellent performance against Galatasaray doesn't look to have saved his Arsenal future, with Juventus and Atletico Madrid currently linked with loan deals for the German, as reported by Inside Futbol (h/t The Telegraph). This would allow Aarons to come in without expecting to feature too regularly right away.

Of course, Wenger already possesses plenty of young talent. Hector Bellerin impressed during the win over Newcastle and is said to have caught the eye of Bayer Leverkusen, reported by Kicker (h/t Squawka). Alex Harris of the Daily Star indicates that the German club are looking to "mould Bellerin in a similar fashion to former defender Dani Carvajal."

He certainly has the confidence to match such a player, as noted by Squawka:

Wenger looks to have plenty of options heading into the January transfer window. The aforementioned reports largely follow quotes from the man himself, who admitted young additions are high on his list of priorities, per Arsenal's Twitter feed:

Football pundit Janusz Michallik recently described the perfect window for Wenger's men to B/R UK's Ryan Bailey:

Arsenal supporters will certainly be hoping for a new defensive midfielder, but it's questionable whether Bielik's arrival would be enough to significantly improve the current squad. He would be unlikely to feature regularly in the immediate future, especially considering he isn't used to first-team football in Poland, meaning Wenger would still need to spend well elsewhere.

The manager needs players who can do the business right away, particularly if Arsenal fail to reach the top four before the new year arrives.
