Georgia Football: Game-by-Game Predictions for the Month of November

Brian JonesOct 28, 2014

We are heading into the final month of the college football regular season, and the Georgia Bulldogs are trying to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff.

As of right now, they are in good position. They lead the SEC East and have only one loss, giving them the right to make a case for being one of the best one-loss teams.

But before the Bulldogs can think of the national title (or an SEC title for that matter), they will need to do well in their last five games, which will all be played in the month of November. Will the Bulldogs keep the hot streak going? Will a team like Florida or Auburn cool them off?

Here are game-by-game predictions for the Bulldogs in the month of November.

November 1 vs. Florida (Jacksonville)

1 of 5

When the Bulldogs go Saturday to Jacksonville, they will have a lot of momentum. On the other hand, the Florida Gators are on the decline after losing to Missouri in strange fashion almost two weeks ago.

Florida is a team that is good defensively, ranking third in the conference in total defense. However, it has had issues scoring points all year due to inconsistent quarterback play and injuries at the running back position.

The Gators will start Treon Harris at quarterback Saturday instead of Jeff Driskel, but that won’t matter because the Bulldogs are betting that the defense and the run game will be strong with or without Todd Gurley. This could be a very ugly game for Florida if it makes the same mistakes it has made all season.

November 8 at Kentucky

2 of 5

Lexington, Kentucky, is the final away destination for the Bulldogs this year, and they are facing a Kentucky Wildcats team that is much improved from last season.

Quarterback Patrick Towles can sling the ball down the field, and the receiving duo of Ryan Timmons and Demarco Robinson can be deadly if Towles is hot.

But Kentucky is still suspect on defense, giving up 38 points or more in three of its last four games.

The Bulldogs have scored 34 or more points in every game they have played in this season. They may have some trouble stopping Towles at the start of the game, but the Bulldogs will wear the Wildcats down on defense. Furthermore, the Bulldogs defense should be able to force a few turnovers on offense.

November 15 vs. Auburn

3 of 5

Auburn and Georgia is always a big game regardless of the records, but this game could determine who plays in the College Football Playoff since both teams should have one loss coming into the contest.

Like Georgia, the Tigers like to run the ball and force turnovers on defense.

The defending SEC champs have had some big wins this year, including a road game against Kansas State. But before Auburn comes to Sanford Stadium, it has to play Ole Miss and Texas A&M. The Tigers could be worn out when they play the Bulldogs, but Nick Marshall’s homecoming will motivate him to play his best game of the year.

However, Georgia has not forgotten what happened last year when it played Auburn, and this could be the game where the Bulldogs make a statement win, especially if they have Gurley, Keith Marshall and Sony Michel ready to go in the backfield.

November 22 vs. Charleston Southern

4 of 5

With the SEC leg of the schedule done, the Bulldogs will have a chance to take a breath when they face Charleston Southern.

This is not to say this will be an easy game. The Buccaneers are one of the better teams in the Big South Conference. No matter how good it is, though, there is no reason the Bulldogs should have trouble with an FCS school.

This will be a game where Mark Richt will play a lot of second-teamers. The Bulldogs have Georgia Tech up next and possibly the SEC Championship. There is no reason to have guys like Hutson Mason and Gurley playing in the second half.

November 29 vs. Georgia Tech

5 of 5

Richt has only lost to Georgia Tech once, and it doesn’t look like his team will lose to it this year.

It’s the same story for Tech. It is very good at running the ball, but it has some serious issues on defense, ranking near the bottom of the ACC in total, rushing and passing defense.

With this game being in Athens, the Bulldogs should not have the same issues they did with Tech last year. The Yellow Jackets were able to jump to a 20-7 lead in that game's first half.

Mason is a lot better than what he was last year, the running game can hang with the Yellow Jackets, and the Bulldogs defense will have a chance to force a couple of turnovers.

The Bulldogs will run the state of Georgia for another year.
