Kansas City Royals Have 1st Bullpen in MLB History to Start a Postseason 7-0
When Kelvin Herrera of the Kansas City Royals was credited with the victory in Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday night, the Royals bullpen became the first in MLB history to start a postseason with a cumulative 7-0 record, per Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN Stats & Info).
In addition to the record-setting streak, the seven victories have tied an all-time postseason mark for most total bullpen wins, per MLB Stat of the Day.
The original record was set back in 2003 by the Florida Marlins, who posted a 7-1 mark during their World Series-winning effort. Braden Looper and Carl Pavano each recorded two victories, while Chad Fox, Brad Penny and Ugueth Urbina had one apiece.

Execs Talk Skubal Contract Outlook 💸
Kansas City has received two victories apiece from Wade Davis and Jason Frasor, and Wednesday night marked Herrera's first win of the 2014 postseason. Left-hander Danny Duffy and 21-year-old Brandon Finnegan have also recorded wins for the Royals.
The back end of the pen has truly been the anchor thus far, as Herrera, Davis and closer Greg Holland have combined to allow just three earned runs and 15 hits over 29.1 innings pitched to go along with a sparkling 36:11 K:BB ratio.
It's no surprise that these players have brought forth such an effort, as they certainly have the credentials. Holland was awarded the inaugural Mariano Rivera AL Reliever of the Year Award on Wednesday, while Davis—who also had arguably one of the best reliever seasons in history—has allowed just one earned run this postseason and held a streak of 33 consecutive scoreless appearances during the regular season.
With these lights-out relievers all at manager Ned Yost's disposal, almost any lead after the sixth inning seems safe for Kansas City.
