Maple Leafs Ask Permission To Speak To Doug Wilson
Was the Paul Maurice firing the first domino? It sure appears that way as reports indicate today that the Toronto Maple Leafs asked the San Jose Sharks permission to speak with their current general manager, Doug Wilson.
Closing the door on speculation he may be fired this offseason, the Sharks refused to allow the Leafs to speak with Wilson, meaning he will more than likely be staying in San Jose.
Late last night the Maple Leaks asked the Canucks permission to speak with Dave Nonis, so it appears the GM search has finally been kicked off in earnest.
Paul Maurice Press Conference
Paul Maurice, recently relieved of his coaching duties by the Toronto Maple Leafs, spoke with the media today.
The classy as usual Maurice thanked everyone from players all the way down to equipment guys as well as the Toronto media.
Maurice said he has only one regret from his time with the Maple Leafs, and that was the firing of John Ferguson Jr. He felt largely responsible, because it happened on his watch, during his time.
Brunnstrom To Decide Today?
Are you sick of it yet? Me too kind of, but hey, it appears we are nearing the end of the Fabian Brunnstrom hype (or is this the beginning?)
Brunnstrom's agent Pat Brisson said he is anticipating his clients decision soon. He didn't say much about his choice, saying Dallas, Detroit, Toronto, and Vancouver are in the mix. He also added (start gritting your teeth now Leafs fans) that Montreal has "an excellent" chance.
Marlies Drop Game 4
The Toronto Marlies dropped game four 5-4 in overtime last night, meaning Syracuse has pushed the Marlies to the brink of elimination. The Crunch now lead the series 3-1.
