Spring Round Up: Air Force Football
Air Force is looking to build upon its successful 9-4 season under first year head coach Troy Calhoun.
This spring, the focus will be to find the players to replace long time starters Chad Hall WR/RB/R and also QB Shaun Carney.Ā The Air Force will bring back only three offensive starters in TE Travis Dekker, OG Nick Charles, and OT Keith Williams.
So, it is safe to say that finding a solid two deep in spring ball is a top priority this spring, along with finding play makers.Ā
The defense is in a little better shape with five returning starters. They are defensive end Ben Garland, nose guard Jared Marvin, defensive end Ryan Kemp, outside linebacker Hunter Altman, and strong safety Chris Thomas.
The front line of the Falcons should be solid next year, but their secondary and linebackers will need some help.Ā This is what spring ball is for.
- 2007 Record: ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦9-4 (6-2 MWC, Second place)
- Basic Offense: ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦.Multiple
- Basic Defense:ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦.3-4
- Lettermen Returning: ā¦..23 (10 Off, 12 Def, 1 ST)
- Lettermen Lost: ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦25 (14 Off, 10 Def, 1 ST)
- Starters Returning:ā¦ā¦ā¦.9 (3 Off, 5 Def., 1 ST)
- Starters Lost: ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦.15 (8 Off, 6 Def, 1 ST)
Potential playmakers look to be Ty Paffett and Sean Quintana at WR.Ā Both receivers have little experience running the ball.Ā That is asked upon wide receivers in the Falcon offense, especially the Z back, which is where Ty Paffett is scheduled to play.
Other players who look to breakout are Shea Smith at QB and multiple players at RB, which starts with Savier Stephens and Brenton Byrd.Ā
