WWE Extreme Rules 2014: Full Card Predictions After WrestleMania 30

Aaron BowerApr 11, 2014

The sixth edition of the Extreme Rules pay-per-view is fast approaching, and it is often a show that provides us with plenty of drama.

Brock Lesnar has been heavily involved with the last two editions as the WrestleMania fallout rolled into the next show—but he is unlikely to be around this time.

That means there are some interesting slots open for some fresh talent to force their way up the card. Whether that means guys who have been in the spotlight before—or people who are new to it—there is plenty to look forward to.

With Daniel Bryan defending his championship on pay-per-view for the first time since he won it, there is an exciting element attached to this year's edition.

Let's take a look at projecting the card for Extreme Rules 2014.

Paige vs. AJ Lee

1 of 6

The Divas division has been given a little bit of fresh impetus over the last week or so, and there can be little doubt over whether it was needed.

In all fairness, AJ Lee's successful defense of her title at WrestleMania XXX felt a little bit flat. However, you can see why it was done now—to put Paige over big time.

Her win on Raw was a real left-field decision—and has put a new name on the Divas title for the first time in almost a year.

Therefore, it seems inevitable that the rematch between the two will come at Extreme Rules. With Lee desperate for revenge, it promises to be an interesting spectacle.

Which is something you can't say about the women's division all too often.

Big E vs. Alberto Del Rio

2 of 6

The Intercontinental Championship is once again flattering to deceive—and once again WWE Creative are at fault.

How is the title expected to be pushed at all if it isn't even defended at WrestleMania? The fact that champion Big E was involved in the Battle Royal, rather than an independent match, was just wrong.

Hopefully that changes at Extreme Rules, and hopefully Alberto Del Rio gets the nod as the challenger. He has been doing well of late, and really stood out in the Battle Royal as the star performer.

He has even managed to knock off the champion in the weeks prior to WrestleMania XXX, so logic would dictate he gets the shot.

The only sticking point here is whether the WWE actually chooses to showcase the belt or not.

Cesaro vs. Jack Swagger

3 of 6

It seems inevitable that this match will feature on the card. Cesaro vs. Jack Swagger is a rivalry that needs putting to bed—even if it is less than a week old.

Cesaro is in the midst of a major push—best confirmed by his victory in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. He had outgrown Swagger and Zeb Colter, and simply had to break away from the two.

In Paul Heyman, he has a manager who will lift his career to new heights. However, before he can aim high, he has to dispose of Swagger.

A match between the two will no doubt be interesting, but you suspect there can be only one possible outcome.

John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt

4 of 6

If any match from WrestleMania XXX deserves a rematch, then surely it is this one.

It feels like there is plenty of hype left surrounding John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt, especially given the result at WrestleMania.

Bray will no doubt be out for some timely revenge, and will be looking to get it at Extreme Rules.

In all fairness, Bray is such a talent that the two could have a prolonged feud over the coming months. Cena seems to be thriving in the rivalry, and sold the match really well at WrestleMania XXX.

You would expect some sort of demonic, twisted stipulation to go alongside the match, too. That would suit both men down to the ground.

Evolution (of sorts) vs. The Shield

5 of 6

It is likely that the team that will compete against The Shield will not be the entirety of Evolution—more like two out of three.

Randy Orton is surely destined for the main event at Extreme Rules, leaving Triple H and Batista looking for an ally to take down The Shield.

And if that happens to be the case, the most obvious choice would be Kane. He has just exited a program where he faced The Shield alongside The New Age Outlaws—keeping him in it would be a smart move.

It would also cement The Shield as bona fide babyface characters. They are gradually growing into the role, but taking on The Authority is the perfect solution to confirm the turn.

Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan

6 of 6

As I mentioned, it looks like Randy Orton will be the man to take on Daniel Bryan at Extreme Rules.

The obligatory rematch clause an ex-champion has is often cashed in at one of two moments—either the Raw following the pay-per-view, or at the next big event.

Given how Orton didn't invoke his rematch clause at Raw, it looks likely to be at Extreme Rules.

A clean Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan match would be a great spectacle, and would finally put a rivalry to bed which has been plagued by interferences from The Authority, amongst other people.

All in all, it would be the smartest main event to book at Extreme Rules.
