It's the playoffs and everything seems to be rolling in the Detroit Red Wings locker room.
More so than normal, the Red Wings are throwing their weight around. This is good news because when you get physical it makes it easier to win battles and get those loose pucks. Normally, the Red Wings are more of a finesse team, but this playoff year seems to be a little different.
A Good 60 Minutes
This year's playoffs team has had trouble, especially in the first round, with putting in three good periods of play. In the past two games, however, and especially Game Two of this series, the Red Wings have been putting in those required 60 minutes of play.
If they can keep playing these full 60-minute games then they will be hard to beat.
In a few of the games last series, it appeared as though our defensive corps weren't playing up to their full potential. Good news though, our D is back and they are playing great.
For example, in the last game, our defensive players gave up only 20 shots, and they are keeping these chances to single chances (no rebounds) and low quality shots.
If we can keep up this good defensive play teams won't get to many "good" shots on net.
The Red Wings are getting goals from more than just the first line of Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg, and Tomas Holmstrom.
Getting goals from all of the lines is making us one of the most depth teams in the playoffs. If they can keep rolling with all four lines, eventually the matchups will favor our team. When the other team has to worry about all four lines it's hard to get the desired matchups.
Anything Can Happen
As Wings fans, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves and take this year one game at a time. I know that we look really good and everything seems to be going our way at the moment, but anything can happen in the playoffs. I just want to make everyone aware that we need make sure we don't look too far ahead; it's still only the conference semi-finals.
So let's continue to get pumped each game, but let's make sure we take it one game at a time.
Let's GO WINGS!!!!!
