Comparing and Contrasting Lebron James and Kobe Bryant

ronnie alstonApr 28, 2008

The media would like to dub Kobe Bryant as a villain and LeBron James as a good guy.

Yes, Kobe has done things in the past that were selfish—the feud with Shaq, theĀ  bashing of Andrew Bynum but everything seems blown out of proportion because he is Kobe Bryant.

If LeBron gets into an altercation he is protected while Kobe is often victimized.

LeBron James got a speeding ticket earlier this season for speeding well over 130 miles per hour, yet if it was Kobe Bryant, it would been a much bigger deal.

What if LeBron would have injured himself going over a 133 miles per hour or even worst a civilian—then what?

Kobe Bryant is often victimized for changing his number to 24, then here came the rumors of Kobe changed his number to 24 because he feels he is one level above Michael Jordan.

People forgot that 24 was his firstĀ number in high school and he couldn't have the number as a rookie because another player already had the number.

So if Kobe is criticized for wearing No. 24—how come LeBron doesn't get it worse because he actually wears No. 23. He must think he is on Michael Jordan's level, how come he dosen't get any grief?

What LeBron is doing is amazing at his age but people seem to forget Kobe at 22 years old. He was hitting big shots in the NBA Finals.

In 2002, Kobe was 23 years old and Shaq missed most of the season recovering from foot surgery. The Lakers record was 11-19 and a 23-year-old Kobe took control and led the Lakers to a 50-win season, averaging 30 points, seven rebounds and five assists. This stretch included nine straight games of 40 or more points including a few 50 point performances.

The Cavaliers reaching the finals last yearĀ was impressive but let's be serious. He dismantled a Wizards team missing two of its best players and a sub-par Nets team.

The only quality team they beat was Detroit and that wasn't by any means a one man show—I remember Daniel Gibson putting up 30+ twice on the Pistons although James made it all possible.
