New York Rangers Woes: Less Talk, More Defense
I'm as frustrated as the next Ranger fan when it came to the embellishment by Sidney Crosby in the last game and the ignorance by the officials which led to the Rangers' loss. But now, with Game Two just a couple hours away, the complaining has to stop. The only way to shut up everyone, including the incredibly ignorant Pittsburgh Tribune Article is to just go out and play! Once that puck drops, the Rangers must put everything behind them and get back to basics and keys of the game as I wrote about here.
I don't want to be redundant and lay the keys to the game out again, but I'm telling you Rangers fans out there that if the Rangers don't stay patient they will lose. What did the Rangers do it the last game? They played "Run n' Gun" and you know what, it worked for 30 minutes. There's just one problem, a hockey game is 60 minutes long. Also, the Rangers system is meant for close games. Ever wonder why the Rangers held countless 1 goal leads this season but couldn't hold a 5 goal lead against Montreal? It's because they strayed away from the system.
Keep in mind the three P's today:
Patience.
Poise.
Perfection.
And not the three F's:
Fancy.
Finesse.
Flagrant.
And just to get things straight to all the Penguins fans that read my articles regarding this series. Sidney Crosby is a phenomenal hockey player, but his antics have been brought up all around the NHL by fans, coaches, and managers alike, not just by frustrated Rangers fans from friday night. It's just a damn shame that a player as good and tough as he has to rely on embellishment to give his team an edge.
