Arsenal will look for some sweet revenge on Bayern Munich when the two meet in the Champions League round of 16.

It was just a year ago that Bayern Munich eliminated Arsenal in the same round of the Champions League.

Despite forcing Munich to rely on away goals to advance, Arsenal were vastly outplayed. They used a quick goal and then stacked the back to pull out a win in Germany.

Arsenal, however, have been wildly improved this year, and they will be anxious to put that on display against Bayern Munich.

Both teams have been in fine form this year. Arsenal have spent most of the season atop the EPL table and are currently in second. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich is running away with the Bundesliga.

Here are the vitals to catch the Gunners in that attempt.

Bayern Munich eliminated Arsenal in last year's Champions League, but it was not without some drama. Bayern advanced simply on away goals after Arsenal stunned Bayern Munich for a 2-0 victory at the Allianz Arena.

Don't expect that fact to lead to overconfidence from the German side.

Mirror's John Cross passed along this quote from Bayern's Javi Martinez:

This game is different to last year. Arsenal is never easy but they are a better team this time.

They made us suffer in Munich last year and we know how important it is to score in London. If we can do that, then we believe we can go through. But they have better players, a confidence and Mesut Ozil is a decisive player for any club. I am still surprised Real Madrid let him go.

Arsenal have made vast improvements. The addition of Mesut Ozil has certainly been a big reason for the improved play, but the turnaround has been an entire team effort.

At the heart of the success is an excellent defense. Arsenal have proven especially stingy at home. Arsenal have allowed just one home goal since Dec. 8 and that came to the mighty attack of Liverpool in a 2-1 win in FA Cup action.

This match will be a great test for both sides.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-0 Bayern Munich

The Gunners will continue their stingy home ways by keeping Bayern scoreless. Arsenal will grab an early goal and then be content to guard their net.

I don't think that will be enough to have them move on. Bayern Munich gets the second leg of this match at home on March 11, but it all sets up for a wonderful contest.
