Samuel Eto'o took some time out from training at Chelsea to make the dreams of a young fan come true after meeting him for a kickabout.

Nathan Thomas, 10, is suffering from a life-threatening liver condition. Through the efforts of the Chelsea Foundation and Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, he was brought to the Blues' training ground to meet his hero.

According to the Daily Mail, Nathan has been a fan of the Cameroonian striker throughout his career after discovering he was the best striker in an old version of FIFA Soccer on the Nintendo DS.

The paper adds:

Nathan, wearing an Inter Milan shirt with ‘Eto’o 9’ on the back, arrived at the training ground in Surrey in a white stretch limousine, along with parents Mel and Debbie and his seven-year-old brother Aiden.

The family watched first-team training before Eto’o joined the boys for a 20-minute kickabout on the indoor pitch.

Nathan was struck dumb when his hero strolled through the doors with a big smile on his face, but, in fairness, the young brothers coped considerably better with the striker than the Manchester United defence had done four days earlier.

As for Eto'o, the striker seemed genuinely moved by the afternoon, making plans for Nathan and his family to attend the FA Cup fourth-round match against Stoke at the weekend.

He later took to Instagram to recount his day.

"I met Nathan yesterday through the Make A Wish and@chelseafc Foundations," Eto'o wrote. "But i still don't know which one of us was happier to meet the other one..."
