Game Recap

April 23, 2008

NBA, NBA Southwest, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Hornets, Chris Paul , Game Recap

The return of the Saints. The 2008 NBA All-Star host city. Since Hurricane Katrina, the city of New Orleans has had its bright moments, but on Tuesday night, the Big Easy witnessed a big performance by their superstar who made it look quite easy.

Chris Paul, Tyson Chandler and the Hornet's supporting cast once again sent Dirk and the Mavs home scratching their heads. New Orleans defeated Dallas in game two on Tuesday night 127-103, a night where Chris Paul seemed virtually unstoppable with 32 points and 17 assists. If Chris Paul wasn't at the top of your MVP ballots, then its time to get those pencils out and make some corrections. After this game, Paul became the first player in NBA history with back-to-back 30-pt, 10 ast, 3 steal games. He also became the first player in history with 30 pts and 10 ast in his first two career playoff games.

Take some time and let that sink in. This kid has played two career playoff games and he is already making history. Can't get enough CP3? We got you covered. In this first-round series against Dallas, Paul is averaging 33.5 PPG, 13.5 APG and 3.5 SPG. Not to take anything away from J-Kidd, but Chris Paul is completely man-handling any defender that attempts to guard him.

More numbers? We're just getting started. The Hornets set multiple records this game, giving the fans something to buzz about. The Hornets set franchise records for most points scored in a quarter (39), most points in a half (67), and most points in a game (127). N.O. also set the record for most team 3-pointers made (10) and assists in a game (Paul, 17).

For the Mavericks fans reading this, there is one thing to think about after this beating: Dirk looked solid, dropping 27 and pulling down five boards. The defense will have to improve vastly, but as long as CP3 is playing scary good (which he does often), it will take everything in the tank to try and pull even in the Big D.

So, hats off to you, Chris Paul. As long as your putting up numbers like you are now, you can dance with a little yellow umbrella all you want.
