Zach Randolph Gives Warm-Up Shirt to Young Special Needs Memphis Grizzlies Fan

Adam FromalJun 4, 2018

Simple acts of kindness.

If everyone lived their lives in a way that was intended to make other people happier, the world would be a better place. We could all learn a little something from Zach Randolph

The Memphis Grizzlies big man has earned somewhat of a gruff reputation thanks to his physical play and no-nonsense attitude on the court. He's been suspended multiple times in the past (cough Jail Blazers cough) for things like throwing punches and making obscene gestures.

But "on the court" and "in the past" are the key phrases there, as Z-Bo has matured over the years and can quickly morph into a teddy bear in the presence of kids.

It was a simple exchange.

This young Memphis fan wanted the shirt that Randolph was wearing, and the power forward was more than happy to oblige. There was never a moment of hesitation once Z-Bo realized that his young admirer was after the shirt.

He just stripped it right off and handed it over.

But the best part of the video is the kid's reaction. As Randolph walks away, you can't help but wonder what was going through the head of the smaller member of Grizz Nation. It's tough to think he'll be anything other than a Grizzlies fan for the rest of his basketball-watching career, and it all started with a simple move on Randolph's part.

How easy would it have been to ignore the request? How easy would it have been for Z-Bo to avoid walking over to that area in the first place?

As Cork Gaines wrote for Business Insider, Z-Bo gave up his shirt in the fourth quarter, proving that it's never too late to make an impact and "show some love."

It's only fitting that Randolph was given November's KIA Community Assist Award, one that was announced prior to this classy move.

As Randolph said via NBA.com after he was given the award, "I love to give back to kids in need and from single-parent homes because I was one of those kids growing up, so I feel as though I can relate. It’s a blessing for me to be able to help someone else."

It shows.

So, what have you done lately to make a fellow human being happy?
