Good

Jim Thome

It finally looks like the slump that Thome was in for most of the month of April is finally coming to an end. Thome hit his fifth home run of the year in the first inning and followed that up with two singles and two more RBI on the game.

Thome's swing wasn't long today like it has been for most of the year. He was taking short, quick swings and really trying to square the ball up, which he did to perfection. Even on his home run, he didn't take a long swing. It was a good, short swing and he took advantage of a pitch that was right in his wheelhouse.

The offense

Say what you will about yesterday's game (sorry for no G/B/I, by the way), but this offense is not going to have many games like that so long as most of the usual starting lineup is playing. Yesterday, both AJ Pierzynski and Jermaine Dye had the day off, and it really showed as the team only got three hits.

Today was completely different, as the Sox banged out ten hits and six runs to go along with four walks.

Dye and Pierzynski both picked up clutch RBI hits in the fifth to extend the lead to 6-0, where it would end.

John Danks.

Check out the article for more analysis. Danks was brilliant today.

Boone Logan

After a terrible performance Thursday against Baltimore, Logan came back today and retired the Rays in order on just nine pitches in the eighth inning and shut the Rays down in the ninth.

He was throwing strikes and not looking scared to use any of his pitches—a huge key for Logan. Despite his poor game Thursday, I'm still pretty confident about what Logan can do for the Sox this year.

Bad

No complaints from today's game. Paul Konerko got the day off, and hopefully he can start to pick it up starting Tuesday against the Yankees.

Indifferent

It's hard to be negative or indifferent about anything in a 6-0 shutout.

The Sox head back home to take on the New York Yankees in a three-game series starting Tuesday night at 7:11.
