It seems that the rumour mill has picked up speed over the last few weeks, with managers frantically trying to drum up some support for their cause by dropping big names into press conferences in the hope that fans will support their ambition.

This certainly seems to be the case with Chelsea boss Avram Grant. With his position threatened and a summer in the Job Centre looking increasingly likely, he has voiced a desire to bring influential Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard to Stamford Bridge.

He said, "I like him very much as a player and I know him. He is a nice guy and an example to others.

"He plays against me but he is still my favourite player. If you can bring him to me, I will be happy."

Whether this is just a tactic to unsettle the Reds talisman before Tuesday's crunch Champions League encounter is uncertain, but Grant can certainly not be accused of a lack of ambition.

Elsewhere, rumours continue to swirl around the future of Thierry Henry. He is said to want a return to the EPL and a "London club," but Barca seem intent on retaining his services.

Two England internationals also seem to persistently feature in the headlines. Both Gareth Barry and David Bentley have been continually linked with both Chelsea and Liverpool, but no firm interest has been revealed.

Wigan's young South American duo Antonio Valencia and Wilson Palacios also seem to be on the move, with stories emanating from Old Trafford indicating a strong interest from legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson. Surely the lure of a major European force would entice the two away from the Lancashire outfit.

Finally, it seems that Dimitar Berbatov's stay in North London is coming to a close. His recent lackadaisical performances combined with a host of top European clubs sniffing around and his agent fuelling the flames seems to lead thoughts to a big money move away from the Lane come the summer.

I will continue to bring you the hottest rumours as and when I hear them.
