Live blogging of Friday's games
- The pitcher of the night so far is Cliff Lee of the Indians. He has only given up a single and has six strikeouts through six innings. Indians lead 4-0 over Minnesota.
- The Cubs won 3-2 over the Pirates this afternoon at Wrigley Field. Good outing by Rich Hill.
- David Ortiz hit a grand slam tonight as the Red Sox lead the Rangers in Boston 9-3. Ortiz is now batting .121 and is 1-for-3 tonight.
- Phil Hughes pitched poorly again and gave up five runs. Baltimore is up 8-2 over the Yankees.
- Solid outing for Orioles starter Daniel Cabrera as he went six innings and gave up only two runs.
- David Purcey lasted only four innings for Toronto and gave up seven walks but only one earned run.
- The Tigers are up 7-4 in the top of the ninth inning. Kenny Rogers pitched a lot better today after having two poor outings in a row.
- Matt Cain gave up nine runs to the Cardinals in less than four innings and his ERA is now 6.64. Cardinals are up 9-1 over the Giants.
- The Diamondbacks scored six runs off Greg Maddux in the first inning. The Padres must be very tired from last night's 22-inning game against the Rockies.
- The Rockies were tired, too, but they still scored six runs in the first inning against Houston. Rockies up 9-4 now.
- Cliff Lee is pitching a gem tonight. Eight strikeouts in eight innings with only two hits given up so far.
- Johan Santana struck out ten Phillies and the Mets won 6-4 tonight.
- White Sox beat the Rays tonight 9-2. Javier Vasquez pitched a solid game for the win while Jeff Niemann took the loss.
- Chipper Jones has homered twice tonight and the Braves are up 6-1 over the Dodgers.
- Kurt Suzuki is leading off tonight for the A's as they face the Royals.
- Ben Sheets is now 3-0 as Milwaukee defeated the Reds 5-2. Sheets left after five innings due to a strained triceps. I hope he is OK, because he is very injury-prone.
- The Angels' Joe Saunders and his 1.19 ERA go up against the Mariners tonight. Saunders is very impressive.
- 3-1 Angels over Seattle as Richie Sexson just hit a HR off Saunders.
- A's are up early 1-0 over Brian Bannister and the Royals. Emil Brown singled off Bannister and Suzuki scored.
- Nick Johnson had four RBIs for the Nationals as they defeated the Marlins 6-4.
- Dan Haren gets the win for Arizona tonight as the Diamondbacks easily defeat the tired Padres 9-0.
- Angels are up 5-4 over the Mariners. Richie Sexson hit another HR and now has four RBI to go with his two homers.
- Chad Gaudin is pitching well for Oakland. Oakland is up 5-2 over the Royals.
- This will be it for tonight. It's a wrap!
