WWE 2K14: DLC Packages and Season Pass Announced
Perhaps the final piece of the WWE 2K14 pre-release information puzzle has been announced. The downloadable content (DLC) and Season Pass details have been revealed, and the amount of content is pretty impressive.
Take a look at the trailer that displays some of the content.
Here are the details, per WWE.2K.com.
The first set of DLC will be available in November. It will be followed by another set in December and January. As usual, fans can purchase the content individually or the entire Season Pass for $19.99 to get access to each month's goodies.
This is a breakdown of what each pack offers:
Content Group 1 – nWo Pack and Accelerator
Playable New World Order (nWo)-themed Superstars: Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Syxx, Curt Hennig, Scott Steiner and The Giant
With Hulk Hogan's bad side, Hollywood Hogan, included as part of the 30 Years of WrestleMania mode (30 YOWM), it's only right to have the other prominent members of the nWo available. Nash, Hall, Savage and the Giant (Big Show) were already part of the roster in alternate personas, but there will be noticeable cosmetic differences for them as members of the nWo.
Steiner and Syxx are new additions entirely. Hennig was on the roster as a manager for one of the 30 YOWM matches, but this makes him a playable character, which is perfect.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Unlock all Items and Superstar Attribute Accelerator
If you don't want to bother paying for each piece of content individually, or playing through the 30 YOWM to unlock everything, this accelerator will do the dirty work for you.
It enables players to unlock all in-game items as well as customize individual WWE Superstar attributes. Don't like The Rock or any other Superstar's ratings? You can change them once this piece of content is available.
Here's the price breakdown and regional availability.
- The nWo Pack will be available for $8.99.
- The Giant will be available free of charge.
- The Accelerator will be available for $1.99.
- The Accelerator is currently scheduled for release on launch day—October 29, 2013 in North America and November 1, 2013 internationally.
- The nWo Pack is currently scheduled for worldwide release in November 2013.
Content Group 2 – WWE Superstars and Moves Pack (December)
WWE Superstars: Fandango and Big E Langston
Few new Superstars have made a bigger impact than Fandango and Big E in their first full year on WWE television. Because of their relevance in programming and the big matches they've already participated in, adding Fandango and Big E was a must.
WWE Divas: Brie Bella, Nikki Bella and Summer Rae
It would be wrong to forget the ladies, especially in light of the popularity of the Total Divas show. The Bellas are the stars of the reality program and have been a part of the main storylines of WWE programming. The sisters were part of the WWE 13 roster, so they are a logical choice here.
Summer Rae has danced her way into the consciousness of WWE fans as Fandango's dance partner. The video game will have a tough task emulating her stunning beauty...and her penchant for faking injuries.
New Ways to Mangle Your Opponent
Over 30 new moves and taunts, including AJ Lee's Black Widow and CM Punk's Koji Clutch, will be available for download in December.
Here's a list of the new moves:
Leaping Tombstone Piledriver w/Pin Combo
Elbow/Back Stabber Combo
Rope Flip Armdrag
Double Jump Body Splash
Shoulder Switch Powerslam
Zack Ryder Comeback
Rope Hung Kick to Mid-Section
Butterfly Suplex Armbar
Corkscrew Shooting Star Press
Standing Shooting Star Press
Standing Corkscrew Moonsault
Springboard 450 Splash
Rebound Big Boot
Rebound Elbow Strike
Billy Goat’s Curse
Wrist Lock Lariat
That's a ton of new weaponry. Here's a price breakdown and regional availability for December's DLC:
- December's WWE Superstars and Divas, along with the Moves Pack, will be available for $7.99.
- Summer Rae will be available free of charge.
Content Group 3 – WWE Legends and Creations Pack
WWE Hall of Famers: Bruno Sammartino and “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes
Paying homage to stars of yesteryear is always great. Including perhaps the greatest WWE champion in history in the roster is just special. Sammartino's moveset may be a bit prehistoric for some of the younger gamers, but historians will appreciate a good bearhug.
The American Dream has been displaying his uncanny on-screen presence in recent WWE programming alongside his sons Cody Rhodes and Goldust. As part of this pack, gamers can take control of Rhodes the Superstar.
Legendary WWE Superstars: “Ravishing” Rick Rude, Virgil and Jake “The Snake” Roberts
Excuse while I weep tears of joy. Rude and Jake "The Snake" are two of the greatest heels in the history of professional wrestling. Their inclusion in the roster further decreases the list of "ooh...I wish they had" Superstars.
Rude's ridiculous physique and awesome arrogance is what wrestling bad guys are supposed to be. Roberts was perhaps one of the first wrestlers to carry an eerie and somewhat scary presence in his matches. It'll be a blast controlling these two legends.
Virgil was one of the great bodyguards in WWE history. He was always in the "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase's corner, until he turned on him and became a face. With this year's version hearkening back to the history of the WWE, Virgil's presence definitely adds to the overall package.
Gamers and fans can never get enough customization. With January's content, gamers will get 15 new Superstar parts to use when creating, editing or cloning Superstars. At first, there were only 14 Superstar heads fans could use a base for their cloning experiments.
This new pack will add the following Superstars to the list:
Alberto Del Rio
CM Punk (long hair)
Daniel Bryan (clean cut)
Kane (no mask)
Triple H (short hair)
Undertaker (long hair)
Finally, here's the price breakdown and regional availability for January's content:
- WWE Legends and the Creations Pack will be available for $8.99.
- Virgil will be available free of charge.
- All content is currently scheduled for worldwide release in January 2014.
More Season Pass Treats
Scott Hall and Kevin Nash as the Outsiders
If you need Big Daddy Cool and the Bad Guy in their Outsiders persona, you can have them. This additional attire is an exclusive for Season Pass subscribers.
For Those That Like to Flaunt Their Badges
Season Pass subscribers will also be privy to 10 exclusive badges that can be seen by the WWE community online. If you've got the content, why not flaunt it.
Many WWE fans were likely already interested in this title, but with the DLC now announced, chances are a few more heads have been turned and those already on board are even more excited. The community will have to create the likes of Bray Wyatt, RVD and Curtis Axel, but overall, this roster and list of content is solid.
