Emmanuel Eboue Is a Must Keep for Arsenal
It's been a yo-yo season for Arsenal utility Emmanuel Eboue. The Ivorian has enjoyed goals and playing time but has endured drops in form and boos from his own crowds; he also cost Arsenal two points against Tottenham.
But since February, the Ivory Coast international has been in good form. Eboue by trade is a right back, but since the arrival of Frenchman Bacary Sagna, the former Beveren man has been forced to settle as a midfielder.
When Eboue was booed by the Arsenal fans after a lackluster performance against Wigan in early December, the future seemed unclear for the utility man. Things then got worse when a brain explosion saw him sent off in an encounter with rivals Tottenham.
But since then the Ivorian has helped himself to a few goals and some nice runs in form.
Speculation was surrounding Eboue in January, when it was reported Arsenal were looking to offload their African speedster, but now I believe Eboue is a must keep.
His versatility is probably the most appealing point for Eboue; he can cover pretty much any position on the pitch. Arsenal always suffer with injuries, and Eboue is a relatively healthy player.
Come next season, I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal found themselves with five or six key midfielders or defenders out injured. Eboue is the perfect player to step in and do the job needed.
The 24-capped Ivory Coast international is also a perfect impact player. If Arsenal ever need to bring in an attacker who can defend, Eboue is your man.
I believe Eboue should stay at Arsenal for at least another season.
