USA Hockey Announces Orientation Camp Roster for 2014 Winter Olympics

Richard LangfordJun 8, 2018

In preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, USA Hockey has invited 48 players to the U.S. Men's National Team Orientation Camp.

The camp will be on Aug. 26 and 27 at Kettler Capitals IcePlex in Arlington, Va.

USA Hockey announced the invitees via its official website.

Of the 48 players invited, 16 have previous Olympic experience. Also, nine of the invitees were a part of the Men's National Team that took home the bronze medal at the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation.

It will be exciting to see who emerges from this group for the 2014 Olympics, as coach Dan Bylsma is going to have some nice talent to work with.

The invitees hail from 24 different NHL teams, and 30 of the 48 were former first-round draft picks.

Among the invitees are the past two Conn Smythe Trophy winners in forward Patrick Kane and goaltender Jonathan Quick.

Kane's inclusion was an obvious must. He led all U.S.-born players in scoring last year as he notched 23 goals and 32 assists. With 52 points this past season, Phil Kessel was right behind Kane. Not surprisingly, he is also among the invitees.

Also, Bylsma is set to have solid on-ice leadership. Dustin Brown, Zach Parise and Ryan Suter are among the list of invitees, and all three were alternate captains on the 2010 Olympic squad that brought home the silver medal.

The Sochi Games will be held from Feb. 7 to Feb. 23, 2014, and the U.S. looks ready to contend for the gold.
