You might be tired of Frank Caliendo and rather weary of any more Mel Kiper Jr. and his mock drafts. Still, when you put the two together, it becomes something magical.
PennLive.com spotted this video from ESPN that brings you something we have seen for countless hours over the last few months: Kiper arguing with Todd McShay.
This time, though, there is a twist.
Today, the part of the pompadour-wearing talking head will be played by the man who has graced us with a fantastic impersonation of John Madden for what only seems like the better part of a century, Frank Caliendo.
If you cannot tell, I hate impressions. The minute someone busts out their best Arnold Schwarzenegger at a party is the moment I lose a precious minute of my life.
Still, there is something to be said for a fresh impression by a gifted comedian. Before this "Kiper" gets old, let's savor how wonderful it is by taking a look at an actual heated mock battle.
Now comes the task of figuring out which is the fake.
As you can see, Caliendo nails this version of Kiper, bringing all of the perfect inflections and facial gestures you never quite realized were so pronounced. You will never see Kiper the same way again.
Soon, the incessant talk about "upside" and "mean streaks" will dissolve until these two talking heads pop up towards the end of the year once again.
It's too bad, because this was just getting good.
